I pulled out four more episode titles and put my thoughts on each. What are your thoughts on the following episodes? Is it a scene, a moment, a line or song? And why? It is your favourite or is it the emotional impact it has on you? Maybe it simply makes you laugh or hide under the covers.
In My Time Of Dying
This is another one high on my list of favourites. There were so many scenes that stand out in this one it was hard to choose. Sam trying to convince Bobby not to do anything to the Impala, that Dean will want to fix it when he gets better "even if there is one working part." John's final talk with Dean. "I am so proud of you." The scene where Sam finds John lying dead on the floor. The slow motion of the coffee cup landing upwards was fantastic. Sam pleading to an unconscious Dean not to die. "You can't leave me with Dad, we will kill each other...Just when we were starting to be brothers again."
However the scene I going to have to go with is when Sam brings out the Ouiji board. Seeing the two brothers sitting on the floor talking together through the board just made me love them all the more. I just really loved that moment between the two. This scene also now makes me think of Ardeospina's brilliant and funny Motivational Poster "Bring Me Pie".

Hunted
The scene I loved the most was Sam and Dean's conversation at the end of the episode while in the car.
Sam: You can't run from this and you can't protect me.
Dean: I can try.
Sam: Thanks for that. Look Dean I'm going to keep on"¦whatever's coming I'm taking it head on. So if you really want to watch my back well I guess you're going to have to stick around.
Dean: Bitch.
Sam: Jerk.
I miss the Bitch/Jerk moments. It was their way to express their love for each other and I really feel they both need to hear that from each other again.
The Monster at the End of the Book
I loved this episode it had so many great moments that stood out. The Laundromat scene with Dean reading from the pages that Chuck had written "'I'm sitting in a laundromat reading about myself sitting in a laundromat reading about myself. My head hurts." "Sam turned his back on Dean, his face brooding and pensive. I don't know how he's doing it but he's doing it. I can't see your face but those are definitely your brooding and pensive shoulders. You just thought I was a dick." Sam turns to Dean, "Guy's good."

And at the "Kripke's Hollow Diner" where they decide to do "opposite day," trying not to fight and through gritted teeth. "It frustrates me when..." But I'm going to have to go with the conversation between Sam and Chuck, discussing the demon blood and where the weight of the apocalypse lies. It was such a compelling scene. You could see the unease and tension Sam was feeling when he first asked Chuck if he knew about the demon blood. When Chuck admitted he had and expressed disapproval of these events Sam seemed so burdened but also relieved to be able to talk to someone about it.
Hammer Of The Gods
For this episode I would have to go with Gabriel's last stand against his brother Lucifer. After all those years of tormenting the brothers here he was defending and protecting them. "I'm loyal. To them...to people, Lucifer. People, Dad was right, they are better than us, they're flawed. But a lot of them try, to do better, to forgive, I've been riding the pine for a long time but I'm in the game now. And I'm not on your side or Michael's. I'm on theirs."

What's your favorite scenes from these episodes?
Comments
Thank you for your comment. It makes it impossible in some episodes to pick just one as there are too many memorable moments. What I try to do is to go with the first one that comes to mind when I first pull out the title from my Tupperware dish. I figure that moment must mean something if it’s the first thing I think of.
Dean: C'mon, Dad, You've gotta help me, I've gotta get better, I've gotta get back in there. I mean, you haven't called a soul for help, you haven't even tried. Aren't you gonna do anything? Aren't you even gonna say anything? I've done everything you've ever asked me. Everything, I've given everything I've ever had. And you're just going to sit there and watch me die? I mean, What the hell kind of father are you..?!
Very strong and emotional scene, I couldn't stop crying and I think it has been the only time where Dean really spoke his mind towards his father. I loved that scene, great acting too!
In "The Monster at the End of the Book" when he asks God for his help and when Castiel told him about Chuck's archangel.
plus everything you said! :)
I love your choices. Dean’s plea to his father made me tear up for him as well. I too couldn’t understand why John wasn’t doing anything.
And Castiels subtle way of telling Dean about the Archangel made me smile.
That was a very heart breaking scene on so many levels.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Great choices! I loved Sam’s reaction after quoting the Hoodoo priest thing word for word, how he knew that this had somehow come from his brother.
Thank you for your comments. I’m still bitter over Gabriel’s demise. I’m still hanging on to a smidgen of hope that they will bring him back.
Love the "bitch" "jerk" in "Hunted" as you. Longing to hear those words again on the show.
Also with you at the Laundromat. I've always wanted to see scenes like that. Also would like to see them out at the second hand shops buying clothes. Must be hard to find Sammy's size.
Love love love and miss Gabriel like crazy! Loved when he showed up crying "Luci, I'm home!" Chuck or God should bring him back. Cass was brought back. Why not Gabe?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I would love to see a scene where the brothers are shopping for clothes. I could only image seeing Sam struggling to find clothes that fit and Dean teasing him. Lets keep hoping that they do bring back Gabriel one day. I like to think he’s sitting on a cloud somewhere with his dad(God) getting reacquainted.
In My Time of Dying - Any of the shots of Dean lying in the hospital bed hooked up to the machines. And the moment when Dean full-on Swazyed the glass off the table. When Sam could hear, or perceive Dean’s voice yelling, “Get back!†to the reaper over his bed. And Dean's final conversation with Tessa: "That's funny. You're very cute." "You're not the first soldier I've plucked from the field." "How do you think angry spirits are born? They can't let go, and they can't move on. " Culminating in her whipping around to face Dean with those awesome yellow eyes. "Today's your lucky day kid."
Hunted – I never much cared for the song White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane until this episode. Now it’s one of my favorites. That whole build up sequence of Scott talking to Dr. Wexler, with the music thrumming under the dialogue, and building in intensity as he walked to his car. Still gives me chills. I love it. And the look in Dean’s eyes the moment he sees Sam shuffling into the room after his fight with Gordon. Even though we only see Dean’s face in profile when he turns his head towards the doorway, the absolute relief in his whole being is palpable. Then he picks Sammy off the floor and takes stock of his little brother’s injuries. And of course, the conversation in the Impala at the end. I so miss the Bitch/Jerk interaction.
The Monster at the End of this Book – Definitely the scene where they find out about Slash fans. "They do know we're brothers, right?" "Doesn't seem to matter." Also, Sam and Lilith’s standoff in the motel room. “Turns out, I don’t survive this war. Killed off. Right before the good part startsâ€. Very creepy. And then there’s Cas and Dean's conversation out at the vending machine. “Archangels are fierce. They’re absolute.â€
“So if a prophet was in the same room as a demon...?â€
“Then the most fearsome wrath of heaven would rain down on that demon. Just so you understand why I can't help. †That shift in Cas’ eyes here, is beautiful.
Hammer of the Gods – Gabriel has to be my favorite damn angel of all time. Love Cas, loved Balthazar. But Richard Speight Jr.’s Gabriel equals all levels of awesome. So sad he’s gone. Any scene with him gets kicked up a notch. Especially when he’s talking to Sam or Dean. “It’s always wrong place, worse time with you mutton heads.†“It’s a fake. Made it out of a can of Diet Orange Slice.†“Either way, you’re uber-boned.†Then there’s the blood splattered hallway where Lucifer is mangling all the gods. And the final conversation with Gabriel and Lucifer. “Damn right, they’re flawed. But a lot of them try."
Sorry this got so long.
I love all your choices. It is so hard to just pick one. It just shows how wonderful and brilliant Supernatural is.
And Gabriel and Luci scene is definitely the best in that episode.
But my favorite scene in Monster at the End of the Book (even though I adore that whole episode) is in the publishers office when Sam says "We're really big fans" and then starts unbuttoning his shirt. Dean's momentary WTF!!! face cracks me up every time I see it.
It’s amazing how just one look or expression from Dean/Jensen and Sam/Jared can say so much and leave such an impression.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
That’s one of my favourite scenes from Devil’s Trap where Dean realises John is possessed. I’m a sucker for all the family/brotherl y moments of the show. I just love their connection and chemistry.
Thank you for your thoughts.
I'm new to this website. Any website really, I've never posted anything on the internet before. I'm a little nervous, but you all seem very nice and I've wanted to share my thoughts on the episodes too for quite some time now. I have finally decided to just do it, so here it goes.
In My Time Of Dying
It's one of my favorite episodes. There's nothing I don't like and most scenes have already been mentioned. So just two small things that have nothing to do with the story: The scene where Dean walks down the stairs in the beginning reminds me of 28 Days Later. (I'm not a horror fan. Not at all. But I had to watch that one.) And bad things always happen in boiler rooms.
Hunted
Another one that I really like. The things that come to mind are the song White Rabbit, the scenes with Sam and Ava and Dean yelling at Gordon "You do that to my brother, I'll kill You." I love badass Dean.
The Monster At The End Of This Book
I agree with the scenes you picked. They're great. Also, Sam not being sure of his LSAT score felt very real. It was such a long time ago.
Hammer Of The Gods
One of only two episodes of all the seasons that I was disappointed by. I liked that they brought in all these different Gods. But then we didn't get to know anything about their background and they died way too fast. I did like that at the end of the episode Sam and Dean had a plan. Gabriel rocks!
Ok, this got really long. I hope that's okay.
Welcome to the site and don’t worry about how long your comments are there are no restrictions.
I liked your choices and I too love Badass Dean.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Back to more serious things. How the hell did I miss this article? Are you guys posting them when I'm asleep or something??
On first read, I agree with pretty much all your points. I did like the scene on the rooftop with Ava in Hunted when she was raising her eyebrow at Sam and Dean's codewords. 'What? It was his idea.' (or something like that) Sooo typical Sam and Dean.
I also liked that Dean's first reaction when he was freed was to check on Sam. The way he looked there felt like he was going to get out the babywipes and fix all Sams booboos. I find these moments, that are so small they are almost insignificant, to be very powerful.
I need to go and rewatch the other three because I don't remember them as well as Hunted.
Thanks Karen.
I’m happy you found the article. I too loved that moment when Dean is checking to make sure Sam was ok.
Tim the Enchanter is bit of a headcase? Ah come on…no more than the rest of us.
thank you for welcoming me.
I have to admit I already found this website last summer but didn't have the nerve to register. I then didn't have internet access for over two month and only just remembered that site where I had read some really well written, thoughtful and fun articles. Thank you (and the other writers here) for that. I hope to find the time to write some more comments. Unfortunately I have to be careful which articles I read because I'm not up to date on the episodes. I don't want to get spoiled too much. Slash Fiction is the last one I saw.
P.S. A headcase. Really?? I had heard there were some crazy people on the internet ;)
