Welcome back to Supernatural's "Memorable Moments" series! For episode 13.08 "The Scorpion and the Frog", I once again put together a list of what I felt were the best and most memorable scenes. The list varies from episode to episode depending on what transpired. I hope you enjoy it and share what your picks would be!
Best Broment
Dean is cleaning his gun.
Sam comes into the room and notices Dean's diligence. "I think she's clean"
Dean: Anything on Ketch?
Sam: No checked every hospital in a fifty mile radius..Nota
Dean: Crazy SOB, probably pulled the bullet out with his teeth.
Dean: What about Jack?
Sam: Talked to Cas, he's got nothing. It's like we've got to find something in the Lore or wait for Jack to make a mistake.
Dean: Yeah well mistakes are what I'm worried about.
Later at the end of the case...
Dean opens a beer for Sam and himself.
After placing the beers down, Dean asks Sam if he's ok.
Sam: Nah, not really. Not exactly the best day you know.
Dean: Well it's not the worst. We did save someone, that felt good.
Sam: Yeah it might...Back to square one with Jack.
Dean: We'll figure something else out. And if that doesn't work, we'll move on to the next and then what ever is next after that. We'll just keep working, because that's what we do.
Sam: It feels really good to hear you talk like that again.
Dean: I'll drink to that.
They then clink their beers...
.... and somberly take a sip.
Best Sam Moment
Sam researches the "Nephilim Tracking Spell'
Dean: What's the verdict?
Sam: The spell, I think it checks out.
After a brief history of the spell's authenticity Sam expresses " Look what ever game Bart is playing, I don't want to play it but.."
Dean: Sam, you know that these things don't usually go our way.
Sam: It doesn't matter. Jack is out there in the world and he's alone and he's scared and he's dangerous and if this is our chance to find him, we have to take it.
Dean ponders what Sam has said and nods in agreement.
Best Dean Moment
Dean and Smash (Alice) break into Luther's barn.
While Dean sets up the summoning spell to have demon 'Grab' access the heavily warded barn....
Smash (Alice) opens an energy drink.
Dean: Is that 'Nerve Damage' ? I use to live on that crap when I was a kid. It's like ten times the legal limit of caffeine right? I didn't know they made that anymore.
Smash informs Dean she got it from E-Bay and then hands him one.
Dean takes a moment to crack it open and take a sip. "Wow"
Smash takes satisfaction in Deans response.
Best CGI/VFX scene
Although a little gross .....
...seeing Luther's head being sliced off and....
...landing next to him was exceptional work.
I also have to give kudos to Bart bursting into flames and ....
...capturing the poison dart flying past Smash and Dean.
Best Guest Actor Scene(s)
David Cubitt as Crossroad Demon Barthamus (Bart).
I loved the diner scene, with the banter between Bart and the brothers.
Bart: I've been following your careers for a long time. You're a real pain in the pitchfork and the halo. Natural destructors. We have that in common you and I.
Dean: Yeah we're twinsies.
Dean: See here's the thing, when a demon tells us to jump, we don't ask how high. We just ice their ass.
Bart: How very Dean of you. (Bart stands up to leave) Sam, do me a favour. You're the smart one. Look into that. I'll be in touch.
Cutest Moment
Bart bought Dean a cherry pie.
After Bart left, Dean dives into the pie as Sam checks out the summoning spell.
Sam soon notices Dean's indulging and gives him a disapproving look.
Best 'Awwww' Moment
Before separating, Sam tells Dean "Don't get dead." Dean replies, "You too."
Best Teasing Moment
To avoid further question from Dean, Smash asks ' How long does a demon summoning spell take?'
Dean gets her point and silently finishes the spell.
Later when Smash is working on opening the safe...
...Dean asks "How long does this ...." however Smash/Alice shushes him before he can finish.
Funniest Moment
I have to go with two scenes for this category.
First one.. Grab casting a spell on Dean to find the hidden safe...
....by turning Dean into a human tracking device.
They way Dean gets pulled by the spell had me giggling. I also loved Dean telling Grab he was going to kill him.
Second one.... Dean and Smash/Alice come to a secret door.
They realise that Dean must put his hand in the lion's mouth in order to open the door.
After some hesitation, Dean prepares himself.
Once the hand is in, he realises there was nothing to it.....
...that is until his hand get clamped down.
and a needle pricks his finger.....
Once his blood activates the lock.....
Dean's hand is freed. Dean's reaction to his wounded finger is priceless.
Best MacGyver Moment
Sam and Dean try to figure out how to get to the fault without getting hit by the poison darts.
Sam then notices the dolly and duct tape and comes up with a 'crazy idea'.
They duct tape Luther to a chair placed on the dolly.
They then send the immortal Luther down the hallway to trigger all the poison darts.
Sam and Dean are both impressed by how it worked.
