What an incredibly moving video. Thanks for sharing, cheryl42.
And bless those Jibcon6 fans.

This is from Jared's manager
# SanSummer1 2015-05-18 01:25
Thank you for the link, cheryl42.

I'm not buying what they are trying to sell. They have been saying that Jared was suffering from "exhaustion" and "missing his family". There's gotta be more to it than that due to Jared's uncharacteristi c behavior and how he has been in the past by his own admission.

I'm hoping to hear from Jared again.
# Alice 2015-05-18 10:43
You know SanSummer1, that's a pretty jaded opinion. We have a policy of allowing people to speak their mind, but keep in mind you're talking about a real person here, not characters like Sam or Dean. It's none of your damn business what the real reason is. As someone who has pushed myself to the brink of exhaustion before, it messes with you physically and mentally. It can leave you totally wrecked. I don't think anything we've been getting is implausible at all.

Your comments were reported. I still might remove them, but I thought a stern reminder in tactful behavior might be appropriate first.
# lala2 2015-05-18 11:10
Alice - I can't speak for San, but I can say that Jared's openness re: his S3 breakdown, the whole AKF campaign and his personal connection to it, and his tweets have made it a bit easier to fall into the speculation trap than if Jensen had suddenly cancelled b/c he was exhausted. I don't think San means any harm. She, like me, is just hoping Jared isn't feeling any embarrassment b/c of his tweets or regretting reaching out in a time of need.

I think I can say we all hope for the best for him.
# SanSummer1 2015-05-18 17:30
but keep in mind you're talking about a real person here, not characters like Sam or Dean. It's none of your damn business what the real reason is.
Wow. I really don't understand your reaction, Alice. The posts I made were about this PR statement that clearly has some inconsistencies and their use of Hollywood speak that is not in the spirit of Jared's Always Keep Fighting campaign. It was not a critique of Jared AT ALL.

I even pointed out it's up to Jared to say more so others probably feel like they shouldn't say anything other than he is "suffering from exhaustion".

I don't know what went down since you unpublished the comments but leaving this comment can't be interpreted as anything other than an attack on me specifically and I don't understand why.
# Alice 2015-05-18 21:30
This isn't an attack on you. It's an admin who sternly is trying to steer the conversation in the right direction. I apologize if it sounded like an attack, but to me and several others, it did sound like you were assuming the PR people were covering up for Jared and something else is wrong. That's the kind of speculation we don't need here.
# Alice 2015-05-18 11:11
I unpublished most of the replies. They just weren't appropriate and even with warnings they just kept coming.
# cheryl42 2015-05-18 15:05
I understand. Thank you.
# Dan115 2015-05-18 15:27
Yes thank you. He shared some personal moments with us and champions a wonderful cause. He asked for love and we gave it. Anything beyond that is none of our business. Period.
# E 2015-05-18 07:11
It also occurs to me that Jared probably really never got a chance to truly mourn his friend Matt who took his own life in January. He was under a lot of pressure then, was so busy with filing and the "Just Keep Fighting" campaign and then all of the conventions, that I think it probably all hit him as soon a filming was over. The timing of the campaign says a lot to me about how he was trying to cope with his friends death. I think he just put it all to the side, and pushed and pushed until it all caught up with him.
# SanSummer1 2015-05-18 09:00

# Alice 2015-05-18 10:52
Okay, I'm putting my foot down right now. This thread has turned into a bunch of speculative gossip when the article is meant to inform us about what's happening in the fandom. That crosses a line in my opinion since Jared is a real person. I might remove a lot of these comments later, but for now I want to get the message across, there's no reason to believe other than what we were told. If you think otherwise, keep in mind it's none of our damn business.
# spnlit 2015-05-19 20:21
I am not getting your reaction Alice. No reason to believe other than what we were told? Really? None of our damn business? Nightsky certainly did not believe what she was told, stated what she thought and made it her business to write a personal letter to Jared. I understand you do not want this to turn into a gossip site but you blasted SanSummer1 for stating exactly what Nightsky thought and wrote in an open letter to Jared.
# cheryl42 2015-05-19 21:36
I agree with lala2 these posts are completely inappropriate.
# lala2 2015-05-19 22:22
Oh my goodness. You guys completely misunderstood San's point. I'm sure my post will be erased, but she never said Jared had an addiction! Where did you guys get that? Is that why you (i.e., the people who complained) reported her posts? No one said Jared had an addiction. San simply stated that Hollywood people often use the word "exhaustion" to mean everything BUT actual exhaustion. I agree w/her on that point. All I said was I've seen it used to hide addiction, eating disorders, etc.

Given Jared's openness about his struggles w/depression, I think we all know he is struggling w/that again. San just pointed out that it may not have been a good word choice given the way "exhaustion" has been used with past celebrities. I'm not sure why that offended so many people on this board, but it clearly did.

Anyway, I'm sure this will be deleted but, hopefully, it will last long enough to be read by those who thought San was saying Jared had an addiction! Or if anyone thought I said that when that couldn't be farther from the truth.

I would directly address your "spinning" comment but, frankly, I'm not sure what is acceptable for the readers of this forum. I feel I've always been respectful in my comments, but I guess others disagree. I didn't feel anything I posted in this thread was out of line, but apparently the comments offended many of the readers here. I would love to explain what San meant by the spinning thing (we basically felt the same way and were agreeing w/each other) b/c I think you would better understand what we were talking about, but since I've probably already crossed the line for some people, I'll just leave it at that.
# cheryl42 2015-05-19 22:34
I'll just refer to eilf's comment below. It covers the whole issue perfectly.
# SanSummer1 2015-05-19 23:48
Thank you, lala2! Wow, I really wish I would have been able to see those posts that were unpublished so that I could have defended myself. And saw who was talking to and/or about me... Please speak up those who did so that I know who you are.

Now it's next to impossible for me to address the misconceptions so thank you for trying to explain, lala2.

Although it's sad and frustrating to see that even you feel that you are not allowed to do so. A forum is not supposed to be just for repeating the party line and if you diverge from that, you get chewed out.

Oh my goodness. You guys completely misunderstood San's point. I'm sure my post will be erased, but she never said Jared had an addiction! Where did you guys get that?
My god! If some people actually think that that was my point, they seriously lack reading comprehension skills. It also makes me think that some of you only follow Jared and Jensen and have never paid attention to other celebrities so you don't understand what kind of language is used in statements that are made to the media when a celebrity has personal problems that are more serious than having worked too hard and having felt homesick. So you get offended when others don't take it at face value.

Given Jared's openness about his struggles w/depression, I think we all know he is struggling w/that again.
It's sad how this thread is just further proof how stigmatized depression and mental illness is even though Jared has made videos where he has talked about how he is fighting and in his recent messages he has used the Always Keep Fighting hashtag. Plus the DM he sent to one of the contest winners that I linked above.
# lala2 2015-05-20 05:59
Agreed on all points, San, esp. your last paragraph. It seems we were widely misunderstood though, like you, I thought our points were clear.

Posting here can be somewhat of a mine field, esp. when one is used to un-moderated forums like ,, or IMDb. I feel like I've seen real disrespect, rudeness, Sam v. Dean fights, actor bashing, etc. This board is very tame, IMO, compared to others, and I honestly feel most posters here are generally respectful. I've never been offended by anything I've read here, and when Alice says she's getting reports, I'm usually slightly amused b/c I don't find much, if anything, crossing the line here, but that's me.

Anyway, at least you know now why the posts were deleted and why people thought you were crossing the line :)
# SanSummer1 2015-05-20 06:46
Yes, thank you for that, lala2!

It would have been really unfortunate if huge misconceptions had been left in people's minds regarding what was said about someone as beloved as Jared is by all of us.

It's not good to unpublish comments before all the participants have been given the chance to clarify especially in a case like this where it seems that one side was vilified. It leads to conflict resurfacing at a later date and at that point one might not know the root cause of it.

Frankly, the whole thing felt like censorship where you are attacked if you don't conform to only one way of looking at things that is deemed to be "acceptable".

Instead of just hitting the report button, I hope that people would actually reply to my posts and state what they disagree with and then we can go from there. I would hate to talk to someone thinking that everything is cool when in actuality they have been reporting me etc. etc.
# cheryl42 2015-05-20 13:00
I think the point is that this thread isn't the proper forum for a discussion on how the information being released is interpreted or manipulated by management, the CW or Jared's bosses. I posted my original comment in this thread "Bits and Pieces" to give those like me who may be struggling with our worry for Jared a little bit of good news. If you want to discuss how the information is being handled maybe start a topic on the discussion thread dealing with how the media releases and uses phrases to describe afflictions of those in the public spotlight to cover up what may be really happening. It isn't an invalid topic to talk about.
This didn't seem like the place for that kind of discussion. That is why I deleted my posts.
# DAN115 2015-05-20 12:20
I think ,put simply, what bothers people is that there were public statements from Jared, his manager and his close friend. So for mnay of us, that is enough. Just because Jared has spoken of personal things in the past does not mean he needs to share every personal, painful moment of his life. Neither do other celebrities. How is that stigmatizing mental illness and depression? What part of 'it's not out business' is so hard to understand? Just because he champions a cause does not mean he needs to bare his soul to us. It most certainly does not negate what he has done. He asked for love, we gave it. He owes us nothing. If he decides to share more of what happened, that is his choice. The fact is we don't really know what happened. So I WILL take it at face value and assume nothing.
# SanSummer1 2015-05-20 12:51
Did you miss the part where I said it's up to Jared to say more about what happened? I expressed why I was skeptical of the PR statement. THAT IS ALL. I was not expecting Jared to share all his personal business. He has been more open than anyone ever thought he would be.

It seems that people had a very visceral reaction to the thought that Jared could be going through a harder time than being exhausted and having missed his family. That is why it seems to me that depression and mental illness – as well as suicide and addiction – are stigmatized even here despite how Jared has tried to do the opposite with his Always Keep Fighting campaign.
# DAN115 2015-05-20 13:18
I will let my post stand as is. To say that people here are stigmatizing mental illness and depression is BS though.
# eilf 2015-05-20 13:47
I was going to continue to ignore this but I really don't like that last comment by you SanSummer and I want t make it clear that it is not at all correct. Not even close. I posted originally because I wanted to dissociate myself - and I still do - from the things that were being said which all came across as insinuation and gossip. I don't understand your argument (or any of the arguments that were - rightly in my opinion - deleted) except that it seems to say 'it isn't true unless Jared comes out and tells us every last detail of his symptoms'. There was no gossiping going on then suddenly there was. I truly don't know what you, Lala etc. think you are trying to fix.

We all understand that the statement could be a tactful way of saying that someone is depressed. That is the point. They can say enough, we can be supportive and we can all move on. That is all. THAT is what Jared's publicity campaign is trying to make happen. It isn't a stigma to be depressed, and it isn't rocket science to work to help someone, and it doesn't need to be discussed endlessly.
That is why it seems to me that depression and mental illness – as well as suicide and addiction – are stigmatized even here despite how Jared has tried to do the opposite with his Always Keep Fighting campaign.
I am VERY offended by this remark. I can't begin to tell you how much. If you think that those who can't understand what on earth your problem is in this conversation are on the side of stigmatizing any of the above things then you are completely wrong.
I have not reported you or anyone else, I very rarely report anyone. But I have nothing but sympathy for Jared or his RIGHT TO PRIVACY and as I understand it his manager is his good friend and is simply being supportive.

I would like to make it as clear as I possibly can that I am not here to judge anyone on any of the things SanSummer has listed, even if all of them were relevant, which they aren't. I don't see that it is my business, nor is it yours. But if you want to make it your business please don't accuse other people of bad intentions if we don't want to discuss it with you.

I am sorry if this comes over abrasively. it just feels to me that at this stage I need to make my position plain (even though I thought it already was).
# SanSummer1 2015-05-20 14:11
It's hard for me to react to this post since you seem to be under the same misconception as DAN115 that I was somehow demanding Jared to tell all the intimate details of what was going on with him.

There was no gossiping going on then suddenly there was.
??? Okay well I did not see it happen.

I truly don't know what you, Lala etc. think you are trying to fix.
It is quite difficult to clear up misunderstandin gs when I don't even know what exactly was said about my posts. The addiction thing came as a complete surprise.
# eilf 2015-05-20 14:26
Nothing was said about your posts. It is YOUR post that I have a problem with.Quote:

I get that you don't see what is wrong with your above comment. I am just distancing myself from it. And as I already said I am offended by your calling other people out on opinions we don't actually hold.
# SanSummer1 2015-05-20 14:43
Nothing was said about your posts. It is YOUR post that I have a problem with.

The comments that were deleted were just people expanding and insinuating and speculating about what you said.

Really? If nothing was said about my posts, then why were people apparently claiming that I had insinuated that Jared suffers from addiction? If nothing was said about my posts, then why are you people addressing me as if I had criticized Jared for not spilling his guts more?
# lala2 2015-05-20 16:16
Girl, just let it go. It's not worth it. People will think what they want of you no matter what you say.
# lala2 2015-05-20 16:15
Uh . . . I'm not trying to fix anything, Eilf. If you, and others, want to think poorly of me . . . by all means do so. I can't control what others think of me.

I only responded b/c it was clear from Cheryl's post that people thought I was saying one thing when I wasn't. Now, you can either believe me or still think I'm being offensive. I don't care.
# cheryl42 2015-05-20 16:49
Please let's be clear lala I wasn't responding to anything you said. I was trying to defend Nightsky's lovely letter to Jared and the comparison of the discussion (as in all the posts, not just yours and San's) on this thread and how it was comparable to her sentiments. Which I wholeheartedly disagree with. My only issue is this isn't the place for this type of discussion. Your points are valid but maybe it would be better to move this to the discussion thread.
# SanSummer1 2015-05-20 20:45
Don't bother moving these posts to the discussion thread. I agree with lala2, it's not worth it. Clearly, people have made up their minds already no matter how unfairly and there is no changing that.
# lala2 2015-05-20 05:49
Cheryl, I didn't find your post inappropriate at all. I'm not sure why you edited it. Anyway, I'm glad you posted what you did b/c it provided me an opportunity to clarify what I meant. San and I were definitely not saying there was more to Jared's condition than depression. That was not the point we were making at all. Eilf's post speaks about not speculating that there was more going on than what was said, but that's not what San and I were doing.

Anyway, I've said my peace on it. Hopefully, ppl understand.
# eilf 2015-05-18 10:53
So to me the #AlwaysKeepFigh ting campaign is meant to covey the idea that a person can ask for help from a group that they want to trust, and who want to help them in return, without feeling stigmatized or judged for doing so.

With that in mind I think that a lot of speculating about there being more, or anything else, happening than what we have been told is really against the principle of what he has been trying to say. Jared wanted some online company on Friday, which a huge number of people provided admirably. I don't imagine he wanted the 30 ensuing news articles speculating about his health.

We have been told as much and more than anyone should be obliged to say about how he is doing. To speculate that things are being covered up or anything else is unfair under the circumstances.

Here is the best response I have seen from an online magazine yet - Bustle ("http://www.bu es/83893-jared- padalecki-cance ls-appearance-a t-supernatural- event-the-reaso n-is-admirable" )

I am not saying you can't talk about whatever you like. And I realize it is all coming from the best of intentions. But please remember we don't know anything about Jared's management/spok esman, nor is there any indication that he lives a Hollywood lifestyle at any level of his life and he has ALWAYS shared what he wants to share with us.
# st50 2015-05-18 11:05
Whatever has happened, whatever he needs, - I'm very proud of him for speaking out, and for recognizing the need to step back and take time for himself.
Jared, like Jensen said, has always given so very much of himself to this fandom.
He's always been incredibly open with his heart and his time.
I don't think we have any right to ask that he open himself even more, if he's not ready to or doesn't want to.
Whether his managers statement is complete or not, I respect his right to privacy, and refuse to speculate further ... and I'll be here, supporting him, when he's ready to come back to his fans.

Happy Hiatus, Jared. You have earned some private time with your family.
# lala2 2015-05-18 11:50
I'm w/you, st50! I'm very proud of Jared for being open about his issues. From his FB page, I see he has inspired so many so I can only hope he realizes that and isn't feel ashamed or embarrassed now. I wish nothing but the best for him. As I said, I think any speculation that did occur came from a place of good intention and well meaning, and I'm not just saying that b/c I was one of the two speculating. Haha!

I'm just wondering if/how the posts in support of Jared on the discussion page, as well as Nighstsky's article, have been relayed to him or to someone who can ensure that Jared is made aware of them. So many of the posts were extremely moving, and all were full of love for Jared, so I hope he has the opportunity to read them at some point.
# Alice 2015-05-18 21:06
We are well known in the Supernatural fandom and one of the larger fan sites. We've also tweeted the links many times. I don't know if Jared will ever get to read these posts because there are so many out there, but I'm sure someone who knows him will. That's fine with us. It's a permanent record of how much he means to the fans. That's what's important to me.
# Alice 2015-05-18 21:33
We haven't done this in a while, but in the past when we've accumulated a set of fan messages we've printed them out and delivered them to intended parties at a con. Once we did a really nice printed book for the crew that's sitting at the Supernatural offices to this day. I can do that with the messages in the Jared thread. Which ever one of us goes to a con next, it can be delivered to Jared. By my calculations, that will likely be Chicago con, but it could be Comic Con if I go this year (I still haven't decided).

Thanks for the reply Alice. I know for me it felt great just to express my thoughts about Jared whether he ever reads it or not. But it's such a wonderful collection of heartfelt comments that it would seem like a shame if he never sees it. I think the posts demonstrate the warmth, gratitude and love that people feel towards him in a way that brief tweets cannot match.

Right well. I said I'd never be back. But I thought I ought to explain some things about depression. I suffer from it myself. Maybe Jared really is exhausted, maybe it is something more. I don't know. My point is that it is entirely possible JARED doesn't know yet himself.

I have had bouts of depression since I was 16 and maybe earlier (I'm now 39). Even now, I can have bad weeks and not be sure it is depression. Sometimes I just need a break and I'm fine. Sometimes it really is depression and I need more medication etc. So my point is that Jared can't come out instantly and tell people what is going on. Not that he should have to. But, disregarding that for a moment, there is a fair chance HE doesn't know what is going on just yet.

So, maybe Jared is simply exhausted and maybe he is depressed. Maybe it is something else entirely. Regardless, I think it is tasteless, disrespectful and even possibly harmful to speculate until Jared is ready to talk. If ever. Sometimes it takes years to make sense of things and put them in words. Sometimes you simply can't. I recently visited this and it was as near an approximation as I've come to to my experiences. No words involved. No labels.

Other than sending Jared some love, leave him alone. Let him heal. That's all
# cheryl42 2015-05-20 17:20
This...thank you. These are early days can we leave the speculating for another time and just be grateful that Jared is feeling better.

So it looks like Adam Glass is moving on. I wonder if or who is going to replace him.
# spnlit 2015-05-22 21:46
After viewing the season finale for season 10, I see it as reason why Jared may be so exhausted. He gave his all to the character of Sam and Sam's complete desperation to save Dean and even his willingness to allow Dean to kill him. How incredible was his performance in the scene where Dean told him to close his eyes. Remember when Jensen said that the depression of Dean's darkness got to him to the point that he asked if their was light at the end of the tunnel? Well we know how much Jared gives, and his performance this season was excellent and ramped up desperation.... perhaps he gave much and wore himself out. A sincere wish for Jared to rest and take the time off to be himself in the love of his family and friends.
