  • Threads: Supernatural 13.07 "War of the Worlds"

    Four Days Later

“I'm confused. Aren't you Satan? Which would make you the evil monster?”
I’m with Kevin! I’m so confused. Lucifer is back? Well that was easy. A rift that supposedly only a once-a-millennia super power can open is created just in time for Lucifer to use? On top of it, he’s changed and is a good guy who is trying to save Earth?
  • Mallena's Supernatural Musings: 7.21 "Reading is Fundamental"

I’ve been going back and forth on which episode to review and it’s been a tough decision.  I’m super busy right now, as is everyone, so I didn’t want to do something too involved, deep, or extremely beloved.  Instead, I was inspired by the news that Hulu is now streaming Osric Chau in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.  I’ve decided to review Osric’s first episode in Supernatural - which is quite beloved anyway, and to talk about Dirk Gently and the joys of streaming.

  • It's a Supernatural Life - Part 4

Are you ready for part three of the Christmas story? If you missed the opening chapters of this year's Christmas in the bunker with the Winchesters, you'll want to go back to read Part 1Part 2 and Part 3 before continuing. After this we have still one part to go.

The original idea for this story was to make it ready before Christmas day but unfortunately that didn't come to pass. Sometimes I plan too many things to do and I realize that there is only so much you can do in a day. I didn't have a holiday (vacation time) to finish it but so much was already done. I decided just to relax, keep the idea for the story in mind and slowly let it reveal itself. That was good as I could fully focus on it and write all that was needed. So finally we have arrived at the part that is my favorite.

  • A Tribute to the Badass Men of Supernatural - Part 3

After I made "A Tribute to the Kick-Ass Women of Supernatural" and part 2 , I wanted to write a similar article about men. I value both in Supernatural because the show has some of the most remarkable guest actors and actresses, so the loss of both are deeply felt. I decided to use the same criteria as I had in my first article: I chose the male characters that had a great impact on me and were also Badass on their own accord.

Strength comes in many ways, whether it is father's, brother's or son's love for one another or strength to go against all odds and do the right thing against what ever the cost would be. Their strength could also be to live on when they are struck by great grief or loss and they feel they can't. These men did that and more. Part 1 of my Badass Men tribute looked at Family and Angels. Part 2 covered the Bad Guys and Frenemies. Those categories include many classic Supernatural characters so you'll want to go back and catch up if you haven't already read them! Let's get on with Part 3!

  • Supernatural Season 9: Hits and Misses - Part One

Season 9: Hits and Misses - Part One

Here we have it – season nine Hits and Misses: Part One. Some of the misses are a tad loose – but what can I say, I mostly enjoyed season nine. It wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t too bad. That made the Misses a little rarer to come by, so do bear with me and mind the nit-pick alerts…..

    Kevin Tran,

    You never asked for this.

You had such a bright future ahead of you. Being an Advanced Placement Student meant that you were on the fast track to bigger and better things---the world was your oyster! You could have gone on to any school you wanted, done anything you desired. You were going to be a rising star and a future leader. In fact, we all know you would have made an excellent President of the United States---the first Asian American President, no less!

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 9x09 - "Holy Terror"

After the shell-shocking midseason finale, I’m still sifting through remnants of heart break and stunning revelations to pick of the pieces that have been left moving forward in the New Year. And what an ending this was – death, deception and divine alliances united for mass destruction that promise only more chaos and heartbreak to come. God, I love this show.

  • Thoughts on 9x02: Devil May Care

Thoughts on 9x02 – Devil May Care

Season nine is moving along at quite the tempo, if episode two is any indicator. This episode had a number of set ups for the year ahead of the poignant and psychological as well as action variety and continued to establish the key players in this game. The episode was exceptionally well written, with the typical witty sarcasm feeling even snappier and more rapid fire than usual and the expressive dialogue and mental anguish both well on point. Overall, this was an excellent episode from every angle, in my opinion.

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 8.21 - "The Great Escapist"

The Great Escapist was, as the title implies, all about escapes, from Kevin's careful manipulation of Crowley to Metatron's escape from his duties to Castiel's own multitude escape plots. Yet despite want or effort, none of these players could quite break free from the reality of destiny's tight grip- yeah, she's a fickle mistress, ain't she? So, let's talk about this carefully plotted, cleverly designed episode that answered fewer questions even as it left us with far, far bigger ones.
  • Thoughts on "Supernatural" 8.07 - "A Little Slice of Kevin"

Thoughts on "A Little Slice of Kevin"

Season eight of "Supernatural" has been one of my favourites thus far. It's up there among season four (my favourite season bar none) and season five, my second favourite season, though season eight is certainly edging up there. The writing this season has been strong and feels much more focused and cohesive as compared to some of the recent past seasons. I think so far,A Little Slice of Kevin is favourite season eight installment. There was so much character and plot advancement and some good action to boot.

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 8.02 - "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?"

What's Up, Tiger Mommy? was a thoroughly enjoyable episode. It had good writing, was well paced, good characterization and, like last week, felt reminiscent of the Supernatural days of yore. So, let's break this down shall we?

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 8.01: "We Need to Talk About Kevin"

    1 Season 8 title card

Holy crow, batman! Season eight?! One minute your heart is stopping watching the ill-omened glowing eyes of purgatory before the closing card flashes on the screen and the next thing you know there is a great Road So Far recap and a brand new title card is giving you chills. This episode also marked the first episode in a very, very long time that I watched live, without headphones and on a screen slightly larger than an IPhone.  Of course, I say this but the idiot cable provider had yet another "minor" service blackout around the 40 minute mark of the hour. Not impressed. But it did come back after a minute and I got to see that kick ass ending. But, I'm getting ahead of myself - let's talk about this from the start.
