An official statement from Deadline.

One of the sturdiest CW ratings performer — linearly and digitally — has been veteran Supernatural, currently in its 13th season. It’s become a TCA tradition to check on the future prospects of the series, which has repeatedly defied expectations.

Noting that he and his CW team are not ready to announce renewal decisions yet, “next year would be Supernatural‘s 300th episode which is remarkable,” Pedowitz told Deadline. “That show will go on as long as it keeps going, the boys (stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) keep doing it and the ratings keep holding.”

This season, Supernatural is also tasked with introducing a potential spinoff, Wayward Sisters, starring the original series’ standout Kim Rhodes in an episode that airs a week from Thursday.

“I’ve seen it, I like it but the fans determine,” Pedowitz said. While the first attempt at a Supernatural spinoff, Bloodlines, “did not work at all, this one has an opportunity to work,” he said. “Nothing is perfect but the real question is whether fans will go watch it if the boys aren’t in it. I don’t know but it works, the characters work, Kathryn Newton is a real star, the actress who plays Donna (Briana Buckmaster) is hilarious.”

'Supernatural' Season 14 not confirmed as the end from Blastingnews!

There are many rumors circulating about "#Supernatural" ending with #Season 14. There is no confirmation that this is the truth, despite publications claiming that it is. This is a rumor that has spread since Jared Padalecki shared that the next milestone for the show was the 300th episode. Jensen Ackles later confirmed that this was just the next milestone and not where the show would end.

'Supernatural' will continue until the stars are done

The CW looks set to continue to renew "Supernatural" until the two main stars are done with it. This means Padalecki and Ackles have full control over when to call it a day. However, they have not shown any signs of wanting to quit.

Why would they when they have a secure job for the foreseeable to support their families? They are also happy with the way things are running behind the scenes.

The claims that "Supernatural" season 14 is the end are completely fabricated. Right now J2, as they are nicknamed by fans, have no plans on actually stopping with the season. They will continue the show while they are happy with it and there are more stories to tell for the Winchesters. Of course, they may decide at the 300th episode that they've had enough, but right now that is simply another milestone to reach.

The stars do have an end in mind

According to Ackles, there is an ending in mind. The team has discussed a potential ending episode number, which would allow the Winchesters to go out while they are still on top. The actor never shared what that episode number would be, but he made a point in saying that the 300th episode comment was definitely just Padalecki discussing the next milestone to reach.

Nobody knows for certain, so any publication claiming that it does is just stirring rumors to scare and annoy fans. The CW doesn't have a plan for ending the series yet. The longest-running series on the network is still gaining fans, even gaining new fans considering it has run for longer than a decade.

"Supernatural" season 14 is not officially the end. At least not yet. Don't believe the rumors, whoever writes them, until Padalecki, Ackles, or The CW officially confirm that the show is over.

The CW Expanding to 6 Nights, Adding Sunday Programs This Fall from TVLine!

https://pmctvline2.files.wordpress.com/2018/02/the-cw-six-nights.jpg

That noise you hear is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin quietly inching closer to renewal. The CW announced Wednesday that beginning this fall, it will expand its Monday-Friday primetime schedule to include a sixth night — Sunday.

That means the network will now offer 12 hours of primetime series each week, up front 10. And unlike the last time The CW expanded its slate — in the late ’00s, when Sunday was outsourced to Media Rights Capital and gave us the likes of Valentine and Easy Money — this time Sunday nights will be programmed by the network itself.

The move bodes well for bubble shows like Crazy Ex and Jane. It also explains The CW’s increased development slate; the network has nine pilots (including reboots of Charmed and Roswell) in contention for fall, up from six last year.

“By expanding to six nights, The CW is now able to give our fans even more of the series they’re so passionate about,” said CW prez Mark Pedowitz in a statement. “Over the past seven years, The CW has added more than 80 hours of original scripted programming to its schedule – now that number can continue to climb, as we grow our broadcast lineup, and continue to add content on every platform.”

The CW ratings, though famously lower than its Big 4 brethren, have held steady. As previously reported, the first 12 weeks of this TV season saw NBC, CBS, Fox and ABC all slip double digits, while The CW was steady. Season-to-date, The CW is currently steady in the 18-49 and 18-34 demos, while up 3 percent in total viewers (per Live+7 data).

‘Supernatural’ EPs & Cast On Potential Season 14 Pick Up & What To Expect In The Remaining Episodes from Deadline!

https://pmcdeadline2.files.wordpress.com/2017/05/supernatural.jpg

While there was no official word on the future of the long-running series, currently in its 13th season, Singer hinted at a strong possibility that a season 14 renewal announcement was on the horizon. When asked about the introduction of The Big Empty episode, which led to Collins playing an alternate version of his character, and the possibility of revisiting, Singer responded, “we might visit it next year. We’re talking about it.” This made the crowd erupt in cheers.

Also suggesting more seasons to come, when Singer was asked about casting Calvert in the role of Jack, a new addition to this season, he said, “we knew it was going to be a season long and maybe more,” when referring to the part of Jack.

A season 14 renewal would come as no surprise as the series continues to be a sturdy ratings performer — linearly and digitally– for the network. CW President Mark Pedowitz has stated that the show will carry on as long as Padalecki and Ackles want to do it. Judging from the exchange of adoration and gratitude for each other and the show during today’s talk (“There are many reasons why I still truly enjoy doing this show,” said Ackles), it doesn’t seem like the guys are ready to hang up their hats just yet.

Supernatural Stars, EP Ponder the Show's Future Beyond Next Season from TVLine!

In the past, stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have suggested that the 300th episode, landing mid-next season, would be a nice benchmark to end the series on. However, given the show’s continued success, that may no longer be the desired game plan.

“I don’t think that’s going to be our end,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb told TVLine ahead of Supernatural‘s PaleyFest panel this past Tuesday. “I think we’re going to keep going. I think there are more stories to tell. Three hundred is an awesome, awesome benchmark — very, very few shows get there; it’s like us and Gunsmoke — but I don’t think that’s our ending point.”

Ackles and Padalecki, too, are keen to continue telling Supernatural stories. And since The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz has repeatedly said that the show will go on as long as the two actors want to do it, that’s very good news for fans. “I am consistently amazed and impressed by our writers and the direction,” Padalecki shared. “I think maybe when I said 300 [episodes], I just didn’t know if we’d keep the quality up, but the quality is higher than it’s ever been. I love the storyline, I love what’s going on with the brothers, with the friends, with the family. So I love being a part of telling the story, and as long as they’re willing to keep picking us up, then count me in.”

Added Ackles: “I will revise that statement and say 300 seems like a nice benchmark” — but not necessarily the final one.

This something that I thought up while mowing the yard...

Micheal Deux

So now we have Michael!Dean loose in the Supernatural world. How can you go against him but still save Dean?

1.  Dean should be able to expel Micheal at anytime (example - Sam/Gadreel)

2. The British Men of Letters exorcism bomb / hyperbolic pulse generator could be a possibility (example - Rooney/Lucifer)

3. Jack as the Nephillim may recover his strength(grace) and be strong enough to defeat Michael.

4. The Caged!Michael might be able to contribute to the situation somehow?

5. Perhaps a missing celestial family member(s) might show up at the last minute to give some assistance. (God, Amara, Raphael, Gabriel, Lucifer, Unknown)

6. An as "Yet Not Introduced" device / person / spell that will be able to help in the task to separate Dean from Michael. (Example - pick any season)

Two Identical Things Can’t Occupy the Same Space

The laws of physics say that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

This idea has been used in Time Travel stories - the same person from different time periods in the same place / location.   Only one person should be there, so one of them will die/fadeaway at the end of the story.

Can also be used when there are alternate/parallel worlds. Again should only be one of them.

So now on Supernatural there are Two Michael's - one in the cage & one in Dean.

Could the writers/producers use this idea in Season 14? Could it be 2 Michael's but only enough Power for 1 of them?

Would this maybe weaken Michael!Dean during his time in Dean's World?

Michael Trois

So say they get Michael out of Dean & he's still alive - where could he go?
Possible known vessels he could use:

1.  Sam - if could hold Lucifer then maybe he could hold Michael.

2.  John - bodies have been remade from scratch in the past (Anna, Castiel, Dean). So Michael brings John back from the dead & he says yes for some reason.

3.  Adam - this could go in too many directions. Michael possessed by AuMichael could be some scary sh*t!

4.  Unknown child of (Dean or Sam or John) could be a possible vessel.

5.  Using #4 - maybe Ben Braeden could come back. He would be about 18 years old by now. This could but a really unexpected spin to everything.

So a episode that would let (Season 1 John Winchester) appear in season 14.

His sole drive was to kill the YED & avenge his wife's death.

How would he react to everything his sons have done since his sacrifices/death?

How would he react to seeing Mary Winchester alive & hunting?

How would he react to Angels & Archangels & Vessels & the Apocalypse?

How would he react to the information about his Father - Henry Winchester & the Men of Letters?

How would he react to the books based on his life & Chuck & God?

So for a few episodes Dean and Sam won't be together. How will the writers accomplish this?

1.  Michael!Dean will have some characters to be paired with. Whether they will be New or Old remains to be seen.  But I am assuming a new character will be introduced (example Asmodeus) who could become a BigBad later on.

2. Dean will be held prisoner in his body by Michael. Michael might create an imaginary world for Dean to keep him distracted. (Example Gadreel & Sam). Or Dean might hallucinate a Sam to keep his sanity.

3.  Sam will be searching for Dean with the help of all his available family & friends. I use available because some actors might not be able to shoot/appear in an episode.  So the writers will need to take this into account while writing episodes.  So who will be paired up with Sam? Castiel & Jack are the most obvious, but Mary & the others could be possible. I feel sorry for Baby (Impala) will she miss Dean?

4.  Will we even see Dean right off? Could they delay his appearance to heighten the dramatic effect for when does appear. Could he be seen in brief flashes by the audience & just be missed by his searchers? (Example any soap opera - near misses)

SDCC magazine burning questions! (Spoiler alert!!! More details under the cut.)

TV Guide: Dean/Michael killed Lucifer! Is he totally dead?
AD: We can pretty conclusively say that Lucifer is dead, yes.

TV Guide: Does that mean the Mark Pellegrino, the most popular actor to play Lucifer, is off the show?
AD: When angels and demons leave the human vessels they inhabit, the person is usually left dead. But we like Mark so much that even though Lucifer's story is over, the actor's story may continue.

TV Guide: Is Michael, who is from Apocalypse World, now the most powerful being on Earth?
AD: He has no counterbalance now that Lucifer's dead, along with every archangel other than our world's Michael, who is locked in Hell. No one can go toe-to-toe with this Michael, especially since Lucifer drained the power from his son Jack (Alexander Calvert). That will be a big problem moving forward for our guys.

TV Guide: What will be Michael's first step next season?
AD: To get to know this world. Once he understands it, he can start working a more malicious agenda. He shares a lot with the other Michael, who wanted to purify the earth of everyone but his chose 5,000 people. This Michael is even scarier.

TV Guide: Is Dean awake inside Michael? Will the bad angel start spouting witty lines and start scarfing cheeseburgers?
AD: Dean is aware of what is happening, but Michael's in control. His humor will be a lot darker. It's a great opportunity for Jensen to play a very different character. I have no doubt he will crush the role.

TV Guide: In the preview of Michael in Dean's body, he's dressed like a Depression-era mobster. Why?
AD: We want to portray Michael in a way that's mob-like and very distinctive from Dean. No flannel!

TV Guide: When the show returns, can we assume that Sam (Jared Padalecki) will be desperately looking for Dean?
AD: When we pick up, the question is, Where is Dean and how to we save him? Sam, Jack and [angel buddy] Castiel (Misha Collins) know that Michael has taken Dean over, and they enlist all hands on deck - including the hunters they brought from Apocalypse World - to search for him.

TV Guide: Fans don't seem to like it when the Winchester Brothers turn evil or are separated too long. Do you expect some pushback from this?
AD: For one episode, they think it's really fun; then they start to miss the character they fell in love with. That won't mean that we rush to resolve this whole thing at the end of Episode 1. But it's something we are very aware of.

Spoilers from TVLine!

After 13 seasons as Supernatural‘s Dean Winchester, Jensen Ackles was pretty sure that there wasn’t anything left to which he couldn’t say, “Been there, played that.” Then his character’s body was taken over by the apocalypse world archangel Michael, and as he told Michael Ausiello during a visit to TVLine’s San Diego Comic-Con video suite, “I realized this was uncharted territory.”

What’s more, the actor had a feeling that he hadn’t had in awhile. “I was a little nervous,” he admitted. Bringing Michael to life has “been almost a daunting challenge. Jared [Padalecki] has had an opportunity to play different characters. He’s gotten to play an angel, hes gotten to play Lucifer… and not just different variations of Sam Winchester, whereas [until now,] Dean has only played different variations of Dean.”

From the sounds of it, he had no reason to be anxious. “The feedback has been good,” he said, adding, “It’s been more feedback than I’ve gotten in the last 13 years.”

As for the series’ shortened Season 14 episode count, Ackles explained that it had everything to do with his and his on-screen sibling’s quality of life. “Shaving a couple of episodes off gives us almost a extra month out of our year, which when you only get about a two-and-half-month hiatus, it goes really quickly.”

Supernatural teases Michael's plan in season 14 from EW!

Supernatural took over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday and kicked off its panel by showing a season 13 highlight reel. In addition to the reel, the show gave fans a glimpse at season 14, which showed Jensen Ackles’ Michael interrupting a man who was praying to ask: “What do you want?” It seems Michael is traveling the world trying to figure out what humans want from this world. Why? That’s to be determined.

As executive producer Brad Buckner said during the panel, Michael is looking to purify the earth, whatever that means. “He’s curious as to what humans want out of this,” Buckner said, adding that there are no angels in this world to be his army, so the question becomes, “Who is he going to organize as his support unit?”

Regardless of his plan, Michael’s arrival means that Dean is taking a backseat. “He is Michael,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb said. “Dean is there and he’s aware of what’s going on, but he’s not really coming to the fore.”

What that means for Jared Padalecki’s Sam is that he has to step into Dean’s role. “Sam this year has kind of taken, at least in the beginning, has taken on more of a leadership role,” Padalecki said about the many Apocalypse World soldiers who are staying at the bunker. “Sam without Dean for however long sort of needs to take the cues and the lessons he’s learned from Dean and try and pass them on to all the Apocalypse World hunters who are all living under this one crazy roof.”

Castiel will be one of those soldiers, though much of his focus will remain Jack, who’s lost his powers. “Jack having no powers is a real adjustment,” actor Alexander Calvert said. “It’s been a little rough.”

Outside of the central characters, Dabb promised a few more returning faces. “Jody Mills will be back for us,” he said. “I think we’ll be seeing some other members of the Wayward family as well.” Also back? Rowena.

As reported earlier, The CW has ordered only 20 episodes for season 14 of Supernatural instead of the standard 22 or 23. Speaking to TVLine, Ackles explained the reason for the shorter seasons, saying it gives the cast and crew a little more time off:

Supernaturalwiki Season 14 Spoilers

Dean will be back after a couple of episodes (?three), but we will continue to have Michael present in the story through flashbacks to what he did while possessing Dean. There will also be after effects of the possession on Dean.

Recurring characters

Mary and Bobby are back and a romantic relationship may develop between them.
Jody returns in ep 3 and Rowena in ep 7 . Other returning characters - Maggie from Apocalypse World, some other Wayward sisters, Charlie, possibly Ketch.
They have discussed using Michael (from the Cage) to combat Apocalypse World Michael but he's not returning at this stage.
While they share some traits, Bobby and Charlie are different characters than the OG versions. These people have lived in a world that has been under seige for more than 30 years which means. Bobby is growing to respect the Winchesters, but does not have the same paternal relationship OG Bobby had with them. We will see some conflict with AU Charlie, as the boys have to readjust from treating her like a little sister. (nice to note though - she is still a lesbian!).
Danneel is back as Anael and Jensen has filmed a scene with her, as Michael
Lucifer is really dead.

Other tidbits

We will see monsters like vampires and werewolves this season, but they will be different than previously encountered in some way.
We won't be returning to Apocalypse World.
One episode will explore one of Dean’s childhood passions which brings in some pop culture we haven't seen before.
We will see less of Heaven and Hell in the first half of the season.

Supernatural‘s Dean is supposed to be awake and aware of Michael’s possession. Will we get any internal Dean vs. Michael scenes? –Adder
“We’ll see Dean putting up a fight, but it’s a really hard fight to win,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb says. “But Dean’s a fighter. He’s going to try to get out even if it doesn’t quite go his way.” As for how that struggle will look, visually, Dabb says, “We have a couple of different approaches to it. Some are very much like he looks into a mirror, and some are going into people’s heads. It’s dependent on the story.”

Question: Scoop on Supernatural? —Susan
Ausiello: “There’s a brewing Bobby/Mary relationship that we want to explore,” co-showrunner Robert Singer tells us. And how will Dean and Sam feel about a potential romance between their mom and their surrogate father’s doppelganger? “I think the boys would be on board with this,” Singer says. “They love [Mary] and like [Bobby] a lot. And if it would make their mom happy, they’d go for that. But this Bobby is a little more complicated of a character in what he’s seen and done, and that can be a roadblock in the relationship.”

Mark Pedowitz Talks About Supernatural Spinoff

At the TCA (The Television Critics Association) today, Mark Pedowitz dismissed the possibility of a Supernatural spinoff.

The CW finally admits a Supernatural spin-off might never work
“We were very happy with the women who were in the Wayward Sisters spinoff,” Pedowitz said. “We have a certain number of slots this year. It just did not get there. Supernatural may be Jensen and Jared — and there may not be a franchise beyond that.”

As to Supernatural itself
Pedowitz once again assured he’s happy to keep the show going as long as stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are willing to continue.

TV Line added
“if there’s a great idea that [the producers] want to go forward with, we’re open to listening. It is a great franchise,” Pedowitz added.

So Death "died " and Billie is the new Personification of "Death".

Death is one of the Four Horsemen.

Would it be interesting to see them come back but as Females?

Not Brothers but Sisters as the New Horsemen?

If Michael wants to restart the Apocalypse then maybe he might look for the Horsemen?

Supernatural: Michael's Possession of Dean Winchester Is a Game Changer from TV Guide!
(Video in link)

But when the CW series returns this October, they'll be up against their toughest foe yet: Michael.

With the archangel in full possession of Dean's body and the real Dean nowhere in sight, the upcoming season will take on a much darker tone as Sam and the rest of the gang search for the elder Winchester. Considering that Michael is hellbent on world domination and the only supernatural beings with enough power to stop him are out of commission — Jack (Alexander Calvert) has lost his powers and Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) is dead — that probably won't be easy.

"It's gonna be interesting, because this angel comes with quite a sordid past. He's done some things, and he's also going to do things while wearing the Dean meat suit, so to speak," Jensen Ackles tells TV Guide. "But I think the real question is: How aware is Dean while riding shotgun, essentially, to Michael? And how is that going to affect Dean once [he] gets back?"

When Dean does eventually return — come on, you know it's happening — Michael's actions will not be quickly forgotten. As Ackles notes, the effects of Michael's possession will continue to weigh on Dean, playing out over the course of the season's remaining episodes, however many that will be. But with Dean MIA, it's initially going to be up to Sam to lead the fight against Michael and other evil-doers walking about. However, between stepping up as a solo leader, worrying about his brother and tackling the regular mix of demons, Sam will find himself understandably overwhelmed.

"I think Sam is terrified. Sam's been possessed by Lucifer and he knows the power that an archangel possesses," Jared Padalecki explains. "To complicate it, he also has a bunch of Apocalypse World hunters living in the middle of this bunker that he has to be in charge of. On top of all of that, there are still monsters in the real world. He still has other day-to-day tasks, so Sam is just terrified. He just loves his brother; he worries about him and now he doesn't have his main confidant to help him make decisions."

According to executive producer Eugenie Ross-Leming, Sam's new solo mission will actually be the perfect opportunity for growth, since he'll be forced to fend for himself in such dire times.

"He grows into the part of the leading brother and organizing and doing all the stuff he would share with Dean ordinarily," says Ross-Leming. "It's sort of an exercise in separation and maturity. They both have to mature separately from one another."

Supernatural Season 14 Finds Jack in a Very Dark Place from TV Guide!
(Video in link)

Supernatural's 14th season will find Jack (Alexander Calvert) in a very dark place. Now that he's no longer the powerful Nephilim who can send bodies across the room with the flick of his wrist, he'll be forced to grapple with something he's never had to deal with before: what it means to be human.

The Season 13 finale saw Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) steal Jack's grace only to be killed by Michael in Dean's (Jensen Ackles) body, leaving Jack utterly powerless. Considering he used to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe, adjusting to life without his super abilities won't be an easy feat and he'll need all the support he can get. Fortunately for Jack, Cas will be right there to help him out of a major funk.

"[Cas] was the one charged with being the father by Kelly Kline (Courtney Ford) before she died so they have this kind of automatic bond. Cas, especially with Sam so occupied with finding Dean, kind of steps into that void to pull Jack up from a very very dark place because Jack is in total despair. [Jack] thinks he has no place in the universe and Cas has to prove him different," writer and executive producer Brad Buckner told TV Guide.

If there's anyone who understands what Jack is going through, it's Cas. After all, Cas lost his powers back in Season 5 when he fell from grace so he knows a thing or two about bouncing back from a major setback.

"[Jack is] almost human and he has to deal with what a miserable experience it is to be human and to be unable to snap your fingers and solve problems magically. So Cas is in a unique position to help him with that because Cas went through that and has come out the other side," Misha Collins explained. "[He] knows that Jack can lean on Sam and Dean and Cas, and that he has this support. And that it's not all about his supernatural powers. That's not the only reason that he's in this family, in this fray. So it's interesting new territory for Cas, being kind of a mentor."

More than a mentor, Cas will be something of a father figure to Jack. "Cas is gonna be in dad mode," added Collins. Dad Cas? Now that's something we can't wait to see!

Supernatural boss: All the Wayward Sisters will return in 'multiple episodes this season' from EW!

http://www.thewinchesterfamilybusiness.com/images/SeasonThirteen/13-10-WaywardSisters/SN1310-02.jpeg

Wayward Sisters might not have worked out, but that doesn’t mean the story of Jody and her girls has come to an end. Even though the CW ultimately decided not to pick up the Supernatural spin-off, Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb says they’ve found a way to include all the Wayward characters in the flagship series’ upcoming 14th season. Furthermore, it sounds like we might get some answers regarding things that were introduced in Wayward’s backdoor pilot (which aired as part of Supernatural’s 13th season).

“All of the characters are going to make their return one way or the other,” Dabb tells EW. “We found a way to fold [them] organically into the plot line, and some of the hanging chads from the pilot last year ended up dovetailing nicely with some of the stuff Michael’s looking to do, and some of the stuff that’s going on in our world just generally. It all folds together pretty well, but they’ll definitely be in multiple episodes this season.”

Maybe that means we’ll see Kaia’s doppelgänger again?

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on Good Place, Empire, 9-1-1, Lucifer, The Flash, Supernatural, NCIS, TWD and More from TVLine!
Question: Is there any scoop on what direction Supernatural‘s Michael/Dean storyline will take? —Adder
Ausiello: At San Diego Comic-Con, Jared Padalecki said he had yet to shoot any scenes with co-star Jensen Ackles, and here’s why: “There will be very limited interaction [between Sam and Michael/Dean], and some of that is because Michael has his own agenda,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb explains. “Some of that is because, without a lot of backup, putting Sam in a room with Michael is going to only end one way, with Michael being as powerful as he is. Certainly [over] the first half of the season, there’s going to be a lot more Michael/Sam interaction. But in the first few episodes, Michael — and by extension Dean — are kind of off in a little bit of their own story.”

Interesting BTS information about filming and connecting pieces together for an episode.

Jason Fischer @JasonFischer77 Aug 31
Most eps are on an 8 day filming schedule. Some larger eps (season openers/closers) can have a 9th day 2nd unit. Then we also do insert units for multiple eps with p/u shots.

Mary Manchin @Nnja11
It roughly takes 14 days to edit an ep & during that time the ep will go through about 6-7 versions (Editor’s, Directors, 3 Producers, Studio/Network & Final) & during that time we get multiple updates with VFX, inserts, titles, foley & ADR.

From there we have 2 days to mix all the updates all together on a sound stage & deliver the episode a day before it airs. Keep in mind we are doing multiple episodes at the same time while doing this so it can get a little hectic!

Also, I only have 3 days to get ADR completed and I typically have to bring in half of the cast for added lines and/or for something like birds or trains or something overlapping lines. This can get tricky with actors working in other countries, time zones and/or work schedules.

Sparks @undeadsparks Aug 31
Do you decide if the audio needs more or someone else checks and gives you a list?

Mary Manchin @Nnja11
For added lines it’s from the execs. For everything else associated with sound we give it to the sound department and they try to clean up the audio as much as the can and what they can’t fix they give me a list and I bring in that actor in the redo those lines.

I should mention the 14ish days are after that ep stops filming. The editors are working on the ep while the ep is filming & piecing what scenes they can together to build the ep. We get dailies of what production has shot the day after. Example: They’re on day 8 we’re on day 7

What’s foley and ADR?

Mary Manchin @Nnja11 24 hours ago
Foley is sound effects like wind blowing, scraping to represent hell hounds nails on a car hood, gun shots, someone getting punched. ADR is when something happens to an actor’s line(s) & they come in & redo the line in sync with picture at the same pitch as the day they filmed

Oh yeah. A lot of shows/movies still do foley physically. I got to watch our foley guys do some of the sound effects for Davy’s hellhound episode.

This is one of the reasons I watch tv with captions. I’m hard of hearing and I’ve read lips all my life. But in tv and film, thats not always reliable because a line might’ve been changed in post.

Mary Manchin @Nnja11
Lines don’t change. If the actor changed the line during takes we can’t do anything. Closed captioning services use the scripts to type everything out.

Supernatural Boss: 'It's Challenging to Write Episodes Without Dean' from TV Line!

After 13 years on the air, Supernatural will do something it’s never done before when the CW series returns this fall: have episodes without Dean Winchester in them, while his portrayer Jensen Ackles takes on the role of archangel Michael.

“The show’s built upon two pillars, and those two pillars are Sam and Dean,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb tells TVLine as part of our Fall Preview Q&A. “We’ve taken Sam away for little chunks of time here and there, but never in a huge way. He’s been soulless and things like that, but he’s still kind of present. Demon Dean was kind of a one-episode thing, and largely, the action happened off-screen.”

But with the Apocalypse World transplant taking control of Dean’s body heading into Season 14, “one of the pillars of the show is gone, basically,” Dabb continues, “and that, in some ways, makes things very difficult, because the show is Sam and Dean, and their interplay.”

It’s not surprising then that Dabb says, “It’s challenging to write episodes without Dean Winchester in them, because he is such a fundamental part of the show. But it’s also exciting [for] Jensen and us [to have] the opportunity to play around with this new character.”

The twist has also benefited the growing ensemble’s beloved fan faves. “It gives some other characters a bit of breathing room in terms of Castiel and Jack, and Mary and Bobby…,” Dabb notes. Plus, the series now has a villain played by one of its original leading men.

“The hardest thing about a show like this, sometimes, is every year, you have to create the new Big Bad,” Dabb explains. “You have to build that character. You have to build that actor to find a comfort level with the show and everything else. With Jensen playing Michael, there’s none of that. This is an actor who everyone loves, who knows exactly what the show is, who knows exactly who he is, who knows exactly [and] very smartly how to approach this character. So it’s really given us, like instantly, a great bad guy, which is kind of obvious, but it’s something where you’re like, ‘Oh, wow, that’s really, really cool.'”

And, Dabb adds: “Jensen’s doing an amazing job of bringing a lot to it.”

Fall TV Spoilers 2018: Scoop on 40 Returning Favorites from TV Line

SUPERNATURAL
Michael still wants to purify the world, but now that he’s loose on our earth — in Dean’s body, no less! — “his method is going to change,” executive producer Andrew Dabb previews. Back at the bunker, little bro Sam and heavenly pal Castiel are “extremely driven to find Dean,” with the latter even seeking help from “certain people, possibly with black eyes, who he would not normally contact.” Despite their efforts, “Sam, ultimately, and even Cas, to a degree, are a little pessimistic,” the EP says. “They’re not sure if it’s going to work out.” The Winchesters’ mom, Mary, however, “is optimistic, but sometimes that optimism can be very annoying.” Meanwhile, powerless Jack is back to hunter basics, “learning how to throw a punch [and] decapitate a vampire,” with the help of Bobby. Up in Heaven, Naomi and the few remaining angels are “trying to hold everything together.” As for the dark side, “we’re going to get a really good preview of what’s going on in Hell, actually, in the first episode,” Dabb teases.

BONUS SPOILER!: In Episode 4, “Sam and Dean and our whole crew get involved in our homage to ’80s slasher movies,” Dabb shares. “We’ve got some really cool gory stuff planned for that.”

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on Grey’s, Walking Dead, Power, Young Sheldon, Riverdale, House of Cards and More from TVLine!

Includes Supernatural tidbit

Question: Anything on Supernatural? —April
Ausiello: Kim Rhodes’ Jody Mills will return in the wake of “a mysterious death, when it turns out that she and Sam and Dean are looking for the same person,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb previews. “That involves her in a case that has pretty big repercussions, Wayward-wise, going forward.” As for the rest of the Wayward Sisters ensemble, “We’re also going to see Donna later this season,” Dabb says. “And our hope is, toward the back half of the season, to see everyone together in a plotline that we think dovetails very nicely with our Supernatural storyline for the season. We’re not, like, taking a detour into Wayward world. [We’re] taking some of those characters who we love so much, and some of the ideas, and folding them into Sam and Dean’s story.”

Supernatural: Everything We Know About Season 14 So Far from TV Guide!

Season 14 will be shorter. Supernatural has clocked in at 23 episodes every season since Season 7, but the upcoming season will be comprised of just 20 episodes — and there's a very good reason for that: Ackles and Padalecki want to spend more time with their families.

"When Jared and I sit down and we talk about, 'Do we want to do this? Do we want to continue to do this?' It's not about the things that it's usually about when these kinds of conversations come up," Ackles said. "The conversation is quality of life. We both have families, it's more about how can we make our work-life balance a little better. And shaving a couple of episodes off gives us almost an extra month out of our year, which when you only get about a two-and-half-month hiatus, it goes by really quickly." We can't argue with that!

The season will be much more grounded. Rather than build toward an epic, end-of-the-world battle like they've done a million times before, this season will focus more on the emotional journeys of Sam, Dean, Castiel and Jack. "The season [is] probably a little smaller in scope than some of the other seasons we've done but a little heavier on the emotional stories," executive producer Robert Singer told TV Guide. Grab some tissues, it sounds like this season will be an emotional rollercoaster.

Michael's possession of Dean will have lasting effects. The driving force behind Season 14 will be the search for Dean, who is being possessed by the archangel Michael. With the elder Winchester MIA while Michael commits heinous acts using his body, Dean's eventual return (obviously he's returning) won't be an easy transition back to every day life. It's something he'll continue to deal with once Michael is ejected from his body."The question is when and how does he come back? And when he does, what did that experience with Michael, how did that affect him? I think that's something we're going to be dealing with for the remainder of the season," said Ackles.

Sam will struggle without his brother. With Dean missing, a gang of Apocalypse World hunters to lead and more innocent victims to save, Sam will have a full plate. He's going to struggle without his brother by his side supporting him. "Sam is just terrified. He just loves his brother, he worries about him. And now he doesn't have his main confidant to help him make decisions," said Padalecki.

Jack and Cas will be spending a lot of time together. Now that Jack has lost his powers, he has to cope with no longer being the strongest being in the room — and that won't be an easy feat. The young Nephilim will find himself in a dark place this season, but he'll have support in Castiel, who knows exactly what he's going through. Cas will take Jack under his wing and teach him what it means to be human, bringing them even closer together.

"[Jack is] almost human and he has to deal with what a miserable experience it is to be human and to be unable to snap your fingers and solve problems magically. So Cas is in a unique position to help him with that because Cas went through that and has come out the other side," Misha Collins explained.

The Wayward Sisters will be back this season. Since The CW passed on their spin-off, Jodi Mills (Kim Rhodes) and the rest of the gang will be reincorporated back into Supernatural. In fact, Jodi is slated to appear at the beginning of the season! The sisters' eventual return will also tie up loose ends from the backdoor pilot, including whatever happened with that rift.

Along with some other familiar faces. Supernatural boss Andrew Dabb has confirmed to TV Guide that in addition to the Wayward Sisters, Rowena (Ruth Connell) will be back, as will Apocalypse World Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Charlie (Felicia Day). While Rowena will continue to be the troublemaking witch we know and love, Bobby and Charlie will be very different from the versions we knew in the real world, since they've been shaped by their experiences in Apocalypse World.

Supernatural returns for Season 14 on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 8/7c on The CW.

Supernatural: Castiel and Sam will grow closer in Dean's absence from EW!

When it comes to the Winchesters, Castiel has kind of always had a favorite. It’s no secret that his friendship with Dean is stronger than his friendship with Sam. “Sam and Cas have never had that same connection,” Misha Collins says. “It was formed the moment that Cas pulled Dean out of Hell.”

But with Supernatural ending season 13 with the archangel Michael possessing Dean, Sam and Castiel have a common goal heading into season 14: To get Dean back. “Cas is pulling out all the stops,” Collins says. “He’s willing to make any kind of deal with any kind of devil in order to get Dean back. He’s attempting to form unsavory alliances and leaving no stone unturned. The entire hunter clan is wildly searching for any possible solution to the problem.” Jared Padalecki adds, “Sam is grateful in a strange way almost to have something to do.”

As for whether Sam and Castiel will bond in Dean’s absence, Collins says, “Sam was initially more wary of Cas. They have grown closer over the years and we see that in the beginning of this season. They’re showing care and concern for one another to an extent that we haven’t quite seen before.” After all, they’ve both lost a brother.

But don’t worry, Dean won’t be gone forever. Jensen Ackles says, “Michael does stick around longer than people might think, but Dean’s not going to be gone long.”

Tiny spoilers from the EW!

“Cas very much takes Jack under his wing and is in a unique position to help because he’s the only being in the universe who’s been through exactly what Jack is going through,” Misha Collins tells EW. “Jack is going through that process of shedding his powers and feeling what it’s like to be human — or human-esque — and Cas has gone through all that.”

But Jack’s humanity won’t just affect him. “In a way it makes Sam more vulnerable because when Jack was all-powerful, Sam just had to try and help him find his footing,” Jared Padalecki says. “But now that Jack is legitimately vulnerable, Sam’s really having to be on point. He has someone he legitimately has to watch out for. So Sam now has more in common with Jack, but Sam also is now more worried about Jack.”

However, Jack isn’t going to settle for life as a human. (No offense to humans.) Rather, he’s going to do everything he can to try and get his powers back.

“That’s who he’s been his entire life,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb says. “In terms of trying to get them back, the understanding is that they will regenerate over time, but no one’s quite sure how much time. In the meantime, Jack is trying to learn human hunting, and succeeding and failing in great quantities in both directions. It’s a difficult adjustment for him because he’s now a year and a half old, basically, and he’s used to having all these powers. Jack knows enough to know that his powers are not the solution to everything, but with Michael and Dean and all the stuff that’s happening, his powers could really come in handy. He knows that, everyone else knows that, and it really eats away at him.”

Could Jack Still Follow Lucifer's Path? 'Supernatural' Star Alexander Calvert Weighs In from TV Insider!

In the Season 13 finale, Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) steals Jack’s grace, therefore his power. Now Lucifer’s dead and Jack’s sort of human. What is his struggle this season?

Alexander Calvert:
How to be a human. When he was first introduced to the world, he had the struggle of being a Nephilim — a half-angel, half-human — and now, because his grace has been stripped away, he’s dealing with the fact that he’s normal… regular, no powers, can’t read minds, can’t heal, can’t “force push.” He has to be like everyone else, which has been tough on him.

The next step will be him reassessing his identity. Last season by the end, he really had a role, protecting the hunters, that he was good at. He knew where he fit in the group. And then, to have to reassess and figure out where you fit in the group all over again, is the biggest thing for him right now.

Who’s helping him through his transformation?

Everybody takes Jack under their wing. I have some really nice stuff in the first episode where I’m training with Bobby (Jim Beaver) to be a hunter and help fight for Dean [after Alternate World archangel Michael possessed Dean's body]. Although Jack’s powers were removed, he wants to help out. So he’s been training with Bobby, learning some combat, even though that doesn’t go super well. Sam continues to support Jack and, as always, there’s that kind of special connection with Cas, who’s able to understand where Jack’s coming from. Even Dean will help, eventually.

Before he disappeared, Dean was the person who most didn’t want Jack around because he is, after all, Lucifer’s son.

Yes, but as we’ve seen throughout the seasons, Dean has a hard exterior but he does care underneath all that.

How does the Cas/Jack bond evolve?

I hesitate to use the “father-son” thing, because I think a lot of people feel like the brothers and Cas are all kind of his fathers. The thing I’m going with right now is a series of uncles that are like, “Ah, we’ll show you how!”

Does Jack really feel a part of this monster-hunting family this season?

Yeah, I think what we saw in last season’s finale was Jack’s rejection of his own father when Lucifer betrays him, and I think that was the biggest confirmation for Jack where his family truly is. Not necessarily where his blood is, but who really cares about [him].

Last season, he seemed to develop feelings for alt world hunter Maggie (Katherine Evans), whom his father had killed and then reluctantly resurrected at Jack’s demand. Will they get closer?

Jack defended Maggie out of loyalty to the group. When we saw him go after what he thought was someone hurting Maggie, he was doing that purely out of that loyalty. That was the biggest thing for him, being a protector. He had that role last season, whereas now, he’s forced to have a new role, which he’s struggling with.

Without the powers, he’s less like Lucifer. Couldn’t that could keep him leaning toward the good side rather than the evil side of his parentage?

Yeah. Kind of the funny stuff this season has been Jack’s being human and being like, “This is kind of hard!” He can see how hard the boys have to work, as opposed to before when he could snap his fingers and magical things would happen. So, he’s seeing himself more in the brothers now, too. But he’s still the son of the devil, and we don’t entirely know which way he’s gonna go. That is still definitely a factor in Jack’s life.

Could he be happy as a hunter?

I mean, are Dean and Sam happy? [Laughs] I think that’s the struggle of the show: there’s a responsibility that they have. What I like about this show and this family is that they have these little moments in between, where they remember why they’re there, why they’re doing it. Jack definitely has moments of joy and happiness along the way, though.

You’ve become a part of the Winchester and Castiel family on screen. Do you feel that way on set with the cast?

I’m still the number one prank target. I got dog-piled this morning! Sam, Dean and Cas were supposed to come in and check on me, but instead the actors all piled up on top of me like I was a running back in football. It’s a little more comfortable coming back for a second season, though. But the guys have been on the show for 10 to 14 years! You know, two years [compared to] 14 years is nothing. Like my character, I’m still very new in this world!

[b]Supernatural stars say Michael's 'super army' will make lore 'useless' from EW!

As Jensen Ackles told EW during a premiere screening and Q&A, “It starts with vampires. Michael’s a fairly crafty character, and he doesn’t just want to have followers in these basic vampires. He wants to fire ’em up a bit and he wants them to win, so he’s essentially going to create a super army.”

Furthermore, Ackles and his costar Jared Padalecki explained that Michael is about to change everything for the Winchesters. “All of the lore and all of the dad’s journal and all of the research is going to pretty much get challenged and become a moot point for season 14,” Ackles said, with Padalecki adding that it’s all “useless now.”

So, as Ackles put it, “Get ready.” Watch the video above for more.

Some Michael spoilers from EW!

According to Ackles, Supernatural co-showrunner Andrew Dabb encouraged him to do his “own thing” with the character, which meant there were no rules when it came to creating Michael, a character we’d met before but not one fans had spent a significant amount of time with. Michael was, essentially, a blank canvas. “I had an idea of what I wanted to do and I played around with it over the hiatus,” Ackles tells EW. “When I got him up on his feet in the first couple of episodes, to be honest I was kind of floundering a little bit — what I had intended to do was maybe not popping as well as I wanted it to.”

Ackles says he started to “regroup” in the second episode of season 14. That regrouping involved a little outside help as well. “I started to add a bit more flavor [to Michael] and spice it up a bit,” Ackles says. “Richard Speight [Jr.] directed the second episode and he really helped me with that. I only had like two scenes in the first episode so I really didn’t have a chance to dive into it. But the second episode I got to play with him a little bit more — there were a couple really good scenes.”

In terms of what Michael’s evolution looked like, Ackles talks specifically about the comedic side of the character. “I was originally trying to take the traditional angel approach. I thought I’d take that method of this omniscient being that is essentially humorless,” Ackles says. “I quickly 180-ed on that after reading through a few things a few times. There wasn’t a whole lot of comedy written for the character, so if I was going to filter some in, it was going to have to be between the lines, which is fine, I like doing that and I like finding those moments. But then I realized that there have been a couple of angels that have had humor and that would be Lucifer and Gabriel. And those were two archangels. So I did take a little bit of liberty with that and thought, if they can do it, maybe this guy should have at least a small dose of that, so I do play a little bit of that in there.”

Overall, the experience of creating Michael took Ackles back to the beginning of his time as Dean. “I think about when I was first doing Dean Winchester and it was very similar,” Ackles says. “It wasn’t until about the third or fourth episode [of season one] where I really felt like I had a handle on the idea of who this guy was. So I feel like I’m back in that same seat again, 13 seasons later. It’s cool.”

Now that the bunker on Supernatural is running like a well-oiled machine, Sam is in Dean’s position as the leader and everyone has formed a tight family unit, what is Dean’s role? How does Dean fit in? —Adder
“I think Dean is really proud that Sam could step up and not just be the kid brother,” executive producer Eugenie Ross-Leming says. “It’s sort of the fulfillment of some of Dean’s goals, so it’s not a bad thing. And they level off. They resume a relationship that they’re comfortable with.”

Michael spoilers from TV Line!

“Everybody has to find a way to undo Michael, who’s the super villain as we start out the year, but will not be the primary villain” during Season 14, executive producer Eugenie Ross-Leming told TVLine at The CW’s fall launch event this past Sunday.

For now, Michael will continue to recruit monsters, but as seeing as how they’re not known to be the most compliant creatures, he “will, ultimately, have to change the plan,” the EP previews. “Basically, he feels humans are useless, worthless. They didn’t work in Apocalypse World, they’re not going to work in this world. So he believes monsters are straight-up. He knows who he’s dealing with, and he can manipulate them. But he learns a lesson.”

As for the beloved Winchester trapped inside Michael, if/when Dean is eventually freed, he won’t be as traumatized as one might think by the horrible things the archangel did while sporting his vessel. “Dean’s been contaminated by Cain. He’s a tough guy,” Ross-Leming notes. “His body’s sort of accumulated a lot of, I think, antibodies against evil, so he’ll be OK. He knows how to handle himself, even though he’s been altered. But there is a little bit of a surprise, in terms of this semi-possession, which I can’t tell you about. There’s a little bit of a twist.”

Plus, this ordeal with Michael “doesn’t take as big a toll” on the hunter as, say, his experience in Hell did, the EP reveals, “because there’s something else that’s going to happen that will take a bigger toll on Dean, and he has to pay attention to that.”

From EW!

As Jensen Ackles told EW during a premiere screening and Q&A, “I would love to see more of what the boys were doing when they couldn’t necessarily go on a hunt but thy really wanted to. Maybe sometimes they’d stow away with dad and he wouldn’t know it and they would get into some trouble. I think there’s a lot of story to be told there.”

For Jared Padalecki, he’d like to go back even further in the boys’ lives. “I would love to see the month after Mary gets burned on the ceiling,” Padalecki said. “I would love to see the story of how John figured out that his wife and the mother of his two kids was involved in hunting.”

‘Supernatural’ Boss Talks Dean’s New Trauma and Michael as ‘Big Bad’ of Season 14 from Variety

“Michael is, for all intents and purposes, the big bad of the season,” executive producer Andrew Dabb tells Variety. “He’s going to throw some levers that are going to awaken some bigger, scarier things, but it’s all a part of his design, so he’s the mastermind behind [it].”

With Lucifer “really and truly” dead after the events of the season 13 finale, Michael is the biggest looming threat in the Winchesters’ world.

“For him to vanish at the end of episode 2 and never come back, or to be defeated at the end of episode 7 and never come back, would not only do a disservice to that character and to Jensen who does a great job of playing him but also to us for taking time to tell that story,” Dabb says. “We’re certainly not in a position where we’re going to say this is the final season and Michael is the be-all-end-all, because I don’t think it is, and I don’t think he is, but…he is the biggest looming threat [now].”

However, the reason Dabb says the writers wanted to return to the dynamic duo of Dean and Sam so early in this season was because “if you have them apart for an extended period of time, for fans and for us, it’s in the back of your head that ‘No, these guys belong together.'”

“The show has always been Sam and Dean and will always be Sam and Dean,” Dabb says. “So when you put them back together, the show feels like, ‘This is the show.'”

The 14th season is also a slightly shorter one with only 20 episodes, so Dabb says the writers’ room has had to accelerate the plot a bit. For the time being, Michael has left Dean’s body, and he’s not the kind of being that will “show up for dinner every Thursday night or anything like that,” Dabb admits. But because the world of the show hasn’t seen anything as threatening as him, “our guys are very much aware that [he] could rear his head at any given time.”

Still, Dabb says that characters such as Sam, Castiel (Misha Collins) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) are “all very sensitive to [Dean’s] trauma” but are not afraid of him — or what he could become should Michael pop in again. Instead, they are focused on finding a way to take down Michael — or at least “keep him under wraps” and helping Dean put together the pieces of what Michael did when he was using his body.

“Dean’s memories of his time possessed are relatively spotty. [He’s] on an emotional roller coaster ride as more of Michael’s plan comes to light,” Dabb says. “It’s a learning process for [him], and I think you’re dealing with a Dean who, early in the season, feels a little bit besieged on all sides.”

After all, Dean has also returned to a bunker filled with hunters he doesn’t know very well, being led by his younger brother.

“Sam has taken on a role that Dean is proud of him for but wasn’t there to see him grow into, so he’s kind of coming into everything mid-stream,” Dabb points out. “Sam is in the role of leader, and being the leader is great — until you make a mistake or someone you’re leading gets killed.”

Castiel will also continue to take the lead on helping Jack deal with the fact that he lost his powers. “Cas has been looking to grow into a larger role in the show. He’s been looking for his place for many years, and he wonders if he found it as a father to this kid,” Dabb says.

Meanwhile Nick (Mark Pellegrino) will “be on his own for a little while,” Dabb shares, as he and the show unravel the mystery of what really happened to his family.

“Nick can’t make up for all of the terrible things Lucifer did when he was in his body, but what he can do is do right by the family, which is a very ‘Supernatural’ motivation,” Dabb says.

While Nick’s version of “doing right” by them has thus far proven to be more violent than the Winchesters might approve, Dabb says that comes as a consequence of being tied to Lucifer for as long as he was.

“Lucifer definitely lingers in Nick in terms of the trauma that he’s undergone,” Dabb says. “You can’t have something possess you for years and years and not absorb something from them, even if it’s just muscle memory.”

While these overarching stories come with a lot of questions and complications for the characters on the mythological level, Dabb is still excited to bring some standalone “short story” episodes to the season to allow the characters to grow emotionally.

Dabb points to the fourth episode of season 14, “Mint Condition,” as a good example, noting that “Dean is in a very dark place in the beginning of that episode” but quickly gets into the “cool ’80s nostalgia throwback” feeling when he comes face-to-face with his hero from an ’80s horror movie franchise. Dabb reveals that the episode was inspired by “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th,” and the “hero” Dean loves is “our version of Jason, basically.”

“It allows us to talk about how horror movies and Halloween generally have been a part of Sam and Dean’s life. … Dean loves horror movies, we’ve always said that on the show, and Sam [doesn’t] and we use the episode to explore more of those feelings and go deeper with [them],” Dabb says.

Supernatural EP Teases Dean's Return Home, Nixes Possession Theories from TV Line

https://pmctvline2.files.wordpress.com/2018/10/supernatural-spoilers4.jpg

TVLINE | After everything that he’s been through recently with Michael, what kind of Dean are we looking at in this week’s episode?
You’re looking at a Dean that’s still a little shell-shocked from everything that’s happened. He’s walking not just back into himself after the last episode, but back into Sam, Cas and Jack, who’ve all kind of shifted over the past few weeks, [and] back into a bunker that’s suddenly full of a lot of hunters he doesn’t know or has very passing relationships with. You’re dealing with a Dean that’s maybe a little bit besieged on all sides, and as Dean so often does, [he] throws himself into a case.

TVLINE | The last episode ended with Michael rather unexpectedly leaving Dean, which led to a lot of speculation. Has Michael truly departed what is supposed to be his perfect vessel? And if so, why would he do tha
t?
He has departed. The question of “why?” is one that will be explored. But he has definitely gotten out, and Dean is not secretly possessed.

TVLINE | How does Sam feel about Dean’s unexpected homecoming?
Sam’s thrilled about it. He got his brother back. It’s not that he’s not worried…. But he’s very happy to have his brother home, and very focused on helping Dean in any way that he can.

TVLINE | Is Sam concerned at all about Dean and his well-being now that he’s out of this trauma?
Yes, of course. Sam has been through possession before. He, more than most, knows what Dean’s going through coming out of it. He knows the psychological toll it’s taking. Even if Dean will not admit it to himself, Sam knows or has some idea of what’s going on. A lot of this week’s episode is him kind of trying to drill down on Dean and really get Dean to open up about his experiences and his emotions about it — which, with someone like Dean, is maybe not always the easiest conversation to have.

TVLINE | What is the significance of the scar Dean is sporting on his arm in the promo photos?
It’s a brand-new scar that he got while he was possessed by Michael. It seems to plant the idea that something hurt [Michael] enough to give him a scar. What can do that? What can hurt an archangel in that way? That becomes a real jumping-off point for this [week’s] episode as our guys try to find out what that object is.

TVLINE | We have to talk about that crazy, bloody ending last week with Nick. What should we take away from that scene about who Nick was before Lucifer and who he is now?
You have to understand who Nick was before Lucifer was not that guy. He would not have beaten someone to death, let’s put it that way. Who Nick is after Lucifer is [in] some ways a very different person, and in some ways, a person that’s [looking] around for anything he can hold onto, especially when it comes to the murder of his family. He’s convinced if he can find out who killed them [and] why, if he can get revenge, he will feel better about not just what happened to them, but about his own choices. I don’t know that that’s actually going to be the case, but that’s the road he’s going down.

TVLINE | There are a lot of fan theories floating around about what’s going on with Nick, whether there’s a little bit of residual Lucifer in him, whether he might be possessed by Michael. Anything you can say on that front?

I will say Nick is Nick, and the actions he’s taking are [that of] a very damaged man that’s gone through years and years of intense trauma, and [are] about how he’s dealing with that. He’s chosen to deal with it by being, let’s call it, proactive. But at the end of the day, you can’t be possessed by the devil for years and years without it affecting you, one way or the other. You still absorb some of that energy. Some of that trauma still affects you.

Michael spoiler from TVLine!

Question: Now that Dean is back on Supernatural, what is next for his character? Will we see how being possessed affected him, or hints that maybe Michael never left? —Adder

Ausiello: You’re assuming that Dean remembers what happened while he was possessed. As we’ll learn in this Thursday’s episode, “His memories of what Michael did are pretty spotty,” executive producer Andrew Dabb previews. “A lot of it is him discovering, ‘Oh, my God — this happened. Oh, my God, that happened.’ That really takes us through not just [this week], but a few episodes as we move forward.” Plus, the hunter, “in classic Dean fashion, feels kind of responsible for” for the army of supermonsters Michael created, even though it’s totally not his fault.

Some spoilers from TV Line!

On Supernatural, I am so worried about Jack’s illness. Is it supernatural or a good ol’ human sickness? Is Jack next on Billie’s hit list ? –Jess
“I think we will see Billie at least once,” EP Eugenie Ross-Leming recently told TVLine, so take that as you will. And whatever’s going on with Jack’s health, it won’t stop him from hunting with Cas. “You’re going to see them together more and more, even going off and working some cases together as Cas takes Jack a little more under his wing — literally and metaphorically,” showrunner Andrew Dabb shares. “It’s a growth opportunity for both of them. Jack needs a parental figure,” while Cas for a couple of seasons “has been looking for a role to grow into,” Dabb says. “He’s tried out a lot of different things, from soldier to administrator to hunter. None of them have quite stuck. For him, Jack is really an opportunity to maybe grow as a father figure. It’s something that Misha [Collins] is very, very good at playing, being a father himself.”

Some spoilers from TVLine!

Question: Is there any word on God or Amara returning to Supernatural this season? With Michael on the loose, it seems prime for their return. —Thomas
Ausiello: “Going back to Season 5 of the show, the whole plan for staging an apocalypse was to get God to come back,” EP Andrew Dabb notes. “And I don’t know that Michael’s necessarily abandoned that idea, although on his previous world, he staged an apocalypse, killed Lucifer… he did everything you should have done to make God take notice; and God didn’t care.”

Some new spoilers from TheMarySue

A lot of familiar faces will show up in the next few episodes, including DJ Quaills as werewolf/hunter Garth, and sunny sheriff Donna Hanscum, played by Briana Buckmaster, who will show up in episode eleven. In that episode, she’ll share scenes with Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), something Smith is particularly excited for: “I couldn’t love Briana more. There’s not a lot, but I think that any strong woman would be very respected by Mary. And anyone who looks after her boys, she’s immediately in.”

Smith also commented on the developing romance between her character and the alternate world Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver): “Bobby and Mary lived through such adversity together in the AU; their relationship was forged with camaraderie and trust and friendship and teamwork. I don’t know where it’s going to go, but the relationship makes sense in the capacity to me.”

Smith added, “And obviously you don’t get better than Jim Beaver.”

And speaking of ships, an internet favorite is the profound bond between Dean and Castiel, which we haven’t seen a lot of this season. Well, we have some good news for you on that end of things, according to Ross-Lemming: “There is one big scene coming up in twelve, that we wrote, that’s a big scene between Cas and Dean, and it’s an important turning point scene.”

Misha Collins also teased about Dean and Cas, “We have some stuff that’s coming up that will scratch that itch,” before talking more about how the Destiel phenomenon wasn’t ever something he anticipated when he joined the show. “I didn’t even know any of those terms when I got on the show. I’d never heard of fan fiction or slash fiction. The very idea of that was alien to me,” Collins said, but now “I actually kind of relish taking it in stride and being like, ‘Great. Awesome.’”
