  • Mallena's Musings: Supernatural 13.09 "The Bad Place"

Speak of the devil; Jack reunites with the Winchesters in this quite serviceable Supernatural episode.  Lacking in some ways, but great in others…let’s review, shall we?

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 13.09: “The Bad Place”

And that folks, is how we do a mid-season finaleSupernaturalstyle! Drama, visual effects, emotional impact and some serious new-level, edge of the cliff moments at the end that left this viewer breathless and excited.

“I'm confused. Aren't you Satan? Which would make you the evil monster?”
I’m with Kevin! I’m so confused. Lucifer is back? Well that was easy. A rift that supposedly only a once-a-millennia super power can open is created just in time for Lucifer to use? On top of it, he’s changed and is a good guy who is trying to save Earth?
  • Threads: Supernatural 13.06 "Tombstone"

    The Morning After

Supernatural episode 13.6, “Tombstone”, was a fun monster-of-the-week episode, meant to mirror the lightened mood in the bunker now that Cas is back. Dean particularly was all smiles, his inner fanboy squeeng over old west gunslingers and mementos. Is there an Old West theme park? Sam needs to take Dean there for their next vacation!

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 13.01: "Lost and Found"

Aaaannndddd we’re back! Right, exactly where we left off, Supernaturalpicks up in the heart-shredding, creepy moment that it left us oh, so many months ago to learn what exactly happens when a Nephilim enters the world with the Winchester brothers there to bear witness. Hint: chaos, drama and pain. The premiere of season thirteen was nothing to enter lightly, and though it certainly didn’t address every dangling thread from last spring, the main story of Jack was handled with laser point focus and, "Lost and Found" didn’t disappoint on the emotional fronts either.

  • Let's Speculate: Supernatural 13.01 "Lost and Found"

Welcome back to Supernatural! In its thirteenth season premiere called “Lost and Found,” the show picks up where it ended in the May season finale. Sam is in the bedroom with the newborn yet adolescent Jack while Dean is still outside near Castiel’s dead body. Dean gets up and rushes into the house and interrupts Sam and Jack, who is calling out to Sam as if he were his “father.” Dean shoots at Jack and Sam tries to stop him but Jack does some powerful scream and knocks them out.

  • Mallena’s Supernatural Musings: 1.01 “Pilot”

The pilot of any show on television is very important.  It can catch or lose a viewer’s attention in the space of an hour.  I usually try to give a show more viewings than just the pilot to be sure, but mostly I can tell right away if I’m going to enjoy a program. Sometimes I’m wrong about that and have to give a show a second look.

  • Fan Video of the Week: Supernatural Reflections "First Blood"

"Place me behind prison walls - walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground. There is a possibility that in some way or another I may be able to escape. But stand me on that floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No. Never." — Karl G. Maeser

How the Winchesters got into this situation was controversial but it was a juicy idea. I loved 2.19 "Folsom Prison Blues"and thought if "First Blood" was as well executed, we would have a grand old time. As it turned out, it was good but it could have been better. It would have been great if it would have lasted like two episodes.

My chosen word for this fan vid article is, of course, "prison" so I checked up on a few episodes where our boys have been in prison or jail. Also, I might have chosen the weirdest song about prisons as a fan video but it works.

  • It's a Supernatural Life - Part 4

Are you ready for part three of the Christmas story? If you missed the opening chapters of this year's Christmas in the bunker with the Winchesters, you'll want to go back to read Part 1Part 2 and Part 3 before continuing. After this we have still one part to go.

The original idea for this story was to make it ready before Christmas day but unfortunately that didn't come to pass. Sometimes I plan too many things to do and I realize that there is only so much you can do in a day. I didn't have a holiday (vacation time) to finish it but so much was already done. I decided just to relax, keep the idea for the story in mind and slowly let it reveal itself. That was good as I could fully focus on it and write all that was needed. So finally we have arrived at the part that is my favorite.

  • Thoughts on Supernatural 12.09: "First Blood"

The 250th episode! Who knew way back when the mission was searching for John and mourning Jess that this is where we’d end up all these years later?First Bloodwas a bit of a different flavor forSupernatural– but then a lot of season twelve has been about changing it up in that sense and it worked, for the most part. The action style, the approach of the feds and the emotions delivered well. As a 250th tribute to the Winchester family we’ve come to love, all the marks were met.

  • Mallena’s Supernatural Musings: 7.17 “The Born-Again Identity”

Hi, everyone.  The nice people here at The WFB decided to let me write a series of episode reviews, for your enjoyment (let’s hope that it’s not a horrible mistake). I’m going to pick any episode from any season that was interesting to me in some way, then talk about other shows and books that touch upon the theme of the episode.

I felt obliged to start with my favorite episode of Supernatural's season seven, "The Born Again Identity".  I am the president, secretary, and treasurer of the Truly Unofficial Season Seven Fan Club.  I also bring the snacks to the meetings. We’re always looking for members - just let me know.

"Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you." — George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

The name of the episode, "Who We Are", made me choose identity as the theme for this article. Mary and her boys are the best example of identity and who they are. In this episode, the past came to the forefront.
