  • "Supernatural" Convention report: Viva Las Vegascon “Part Two“ Jensen and Jared with a side order of Misha! by sweetondean

    IT'S J DAY!

All photos are taken by me.

Truth is, I come to these conventions for many reasons, but the main reason is to see the boys and if truth be known, one specific boy"¦or man"¦MANLY MAN (I mean these boys are in the 30's after all!).

Normally the Js are on the Sunday of the convention. They're the showstopper if you may, but at Vegascon, they were on the Saturday. Whether this was because of flights back to Vancouver and timings of work or whether it was because they wanted to be able to play up after their convention commitments I have no clue "“ but I'm betting on the later!

Jared had his mum and dad in town; they were with him at the convention at the panel and in his photo-ops. Clif flew down on Friday and Johnny and Sean came in with the boys on the Saturday.

But once again, I've jumped ahead! The day started a bit later than the usual J day. Normally I'm up at about 5.30am getting ready for a 7.30 breakfast start "“ or something along those lines. But this time, we could actually have a relaxing morning. The Js weren't arriving at lunch until 2 and before then, we had Emily Perkins' and Misha's panels. So there was plenty of time to get ready, sort the makeup, do the hair"¦prepare for what was ahead!
  • "Two Minutes To Midnight" - Misha's Side

Two Minutes to Midnight - Misha's Side

Tonight's episode was unbelievable - full of incredible acting, great writing and some key plot advancements. And, if you're a Minion (as in Misha's) you were treated to some special commentary throughout the episode by none other than our resident former angel, Misha Collins. While tonight's episode was heavy and dramatic, Misha's commentary never failed to make me smile, despite the intense drama playing out on the television. (What is up with TV this week - all of "my shows" have left me upset, at least with Supernatural,I expect it! Curse May sweeps for the painful-but-oh-so-good drama [except for you, Glee - you're supposed to make me gleeful, dammit - it's in your name!]). So, before I dive head first into a deep analysis of a heady episode that serves as the penultimate to an episode whose trailer alone makes my stomach turn flips, I thought I'd share some of the smile-invoking words "twitted" (as he calls it) by Misha throughout Two Minutes to Midnight.
Misha started by announcing the following about 3 hours before the show aired:
"The folks @ the CW TV network in the USA (i think CW stands for "Clever Wizards") have asked me to twit during the airing of a reality show. The show is called "Supernatural" & I believe it's about a family on a safari."

  • Bardicvoice's Saturday Report: Salute to Supernatural Vancouver 2015

Saturday at Vancon.  Just like any other con, this is the day where serious s*** happens.  Mark Sheppard is in the house as well as a number of other illustrious guests, and then it all closes with the always interesting grossly amusing Misha Collins.

  • Bardicvoice's VanCon Reports, Part 7: Richard Speight, Jr. & Matt Cohen, Jim Beaver & Misha Collins

    (All photos from sweetondean)

I've chosen to consolidate the last two panels on Saturday because I didn't get as many notes from them as from others. The Dick and Matt show was a lot of fun and included some tasty treats. The Jim and Misha panel was less rewarding to me personally because it had little substance, devolving instead into silliness. Not to say that silliness isn't fun, but it's not something I can take notes on and recap without losing its essence!

These panels – and the two Marks panel as well – demonstrated that our guest actors have learned a new trick convention goers should prepare for:  when thrown questions they weren't prepared to answer, they turned the question back on the asker, putting them on the spot to provide their answer, and even pulling them up on stage to face the audience while doing so to make a point about how hard it is to provide such off-the-cuff answers and be entertaining in the process. So all those questions about “What would you do if...” or “How do you think this should happen” or “Describe [certain people on the show] in three words or less” are now fair game as things whoever asks them might have to answer, instead of getting answers from the guests. Beware!

There was also a really funny trend that started being called out by the two Marks in their panel and continued through the following ones, which boiled down to the guest pointing out whenever questions addressed to the guests were really questions about Jared and Jensen. As Sheppard put it, the typical such question ran, “I think you're wonderful, but what was it like working with Jared and Jensen?” They were funny about it and they all clearly do love the guys, but what made them light up were questions about their own acting, past or current projects, and topics of interest to them. Choose wisely, if you choose to ask!
  • Congratulations Misha!

Misha Collins, aka Castiel, won the "Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor" category at the 2015 People's Choice Awards!

Misha later expressed his gratitude on Twitter:

"Wait, i won a PCA? WTF? Well, i'm back to thinking this vote was rigged. I'm not even an actor (or a sci-fi/fantasy.) PS: Thank you guys,"

"Seriously, thank you guys. They give these things to real big shots, like @TheEllenShow & @RobertDowneyJr & @JensenAckles! Kinda cool,"

In honour of Misha' accomplishment, The WFB put together this little tribute.
  • Destination: Brigadoon – Memories from the Supernatural Chicago Convention 2015

Do you know the story of “Brigadoon”? It is one of my favorite movies of all time.  It’s a love story that takes place in a mysterious Scottish village that only materializes one day every hundred years. It’s a magical place, sheltered from the realities of the outside world. The villagers are very close to each other, united by the secret that only they know. They are all under a spell, living in their perfect world that no one else can see, awakening for one day, then disappearing into the mist until it is time once again for their world to be reunited with their beloved Highlands. The story is set to music, with one of the most memorable songs being “It’s Almost Like Being In Love”.

Entering the magical world of a Supernatural convention is a lot like the supernatural world of Brigadoon.

  • From Our Archives: The Conventional Wisdom of Misha Collins

This is a repost of something we ran this time last year.  Since it was Misha Collins' birthday earlier this week (Happy Belated 39th Birthday Misha!) and he is again entertaining folks with his quirkiness and offbeat humor at Vancon (Bardicvoice, Far Away Eyes' and Tigershire are having a great time BTW), I figured this recap of his wilder con moments deserved another read.  Because it's hilarious.  Presenting, The Conventional Wisdom of Misha Collins.

  • Happy Birthday Misha!

The cast is wishing Misha a Happy Birthday!
  • Happy Birthday to Supernatural's Misha Collins!

It's Misha's Birthday. Let's celebrate some of his greatest hits!
  • Hiatus Hunting: Fun With The Boys, Part 1

Ah, spring of 2012. Season Seven was winding down (thank Chuck!), "Supernatural" was on the verge of moving from the doldrums of Friday nights to Wednesdays with new show "Arrow" (thank Chuck!), and one of our writers at the time, Sablegreen, decided to have some really great fun with GIFs.  It was really the first time anyone had attempted a "GIF spam" and it was a huge hit.   So much so it resulted in a second article!

For our Hiatus Hunting this time, in honor of Throwback Thursday, we present part one of that two part series, "Fun With The Boys."  I think you'll really love this one.  Warning, for those of you with slow connections, give this some time to load.  It's worth it!

  • Hiatus Hunting: Fun With The Boys, Part 2

It's Throwback Thursday!  Last week we presented a lively .GIF spam called "Fun With the Boys."  Here's part two!  It's even livelier!  Or at least just as fun.

  • Interview With Misha Collins - Comic Con 2015

I always love interviewing Misha.  He's so pleasant, happy, fun, and we don't really have to talk about the show with him, not that he had a lot to share about Castiel anyway.  When talk breaks out about GISHWHES and fan conventions with him, that subject matter is just as entertaining.  There is one spoiler in here about season eleven for Castiel.  Otherwise, just enjoy the fun.
  • Interview with Misha Collins - Comic Con 2016

Ah, Misha.  He was actually our first interview of the day.  We were told by the CW publicist before he took a seat to make sure we asked Misha a question about GISHWHES since registration closes tomorrow.  So that's exactly what we did!  How Misha finds time for all this is beyond me!

Below is the full transcript and video for Misha's interview with us in the San Diego Comic Con Supernatural press room.  Both Nightsky and I got to ask questions.  Misha does share some interesting tidbits.  Could it be that my dream of the return of warrior Castiel come true?  Misha talks a bit about that in this interview too.

You know what's coming...the disclaimer.  SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Interview with Misha Collins - Comic Con 2017

It's Misha's turn!  In our roundtable interview in the San Diego Comic Con press room today, he gives some interesting hints about Castiel's fate.  We'll give the "Spoiler Alert" here but honestly, it's more teasers that will likely fuel wild speculation.  The only thing he will confirm is that in the beginning of the season, Castiel is dead.
  • Listening In: Fans' Supernatural #MinnCon Memories

Supernatural conventions are emotional, exuberant experiences. Every fan who attends leaves with their own unique memories. Each impression of the convention is a combination of factors, such as whether the attendee is a rookie or veteran, is meeting friends or attending solo (Farawayeyes discussed this aspect of conventions in her recent MinnCon reflection), and on the specific roster of actors appearing at that con. All of the panels are phenomenal, but sometimes fans are lucky enough to see their favorite actor in person (beside, of course, Jared, Jensen, Misha and Mark who attend all North American cons).

One of my colleagues, @waywrdaughter67, recently attended the convention in Minnesota (#MinnCon to social media users). She shared with me the unfiltered convention recollections from her group of friends. All of these fans are either administrators or members of the Supernatural Fan Wiki  community. With their permission, I am sharing their personal reactions with you, to help bring those of you who cannot attend a con one step closer to its magic. I've also added some wonderful pictures taken by @PigNaPoke69 to help you visualize what these fans saw (Please respect her art and not copy, download or use her pictures without credit and permission).

The following is an exact copy of their conversation. Remember, their reactions are uncensored so they just may be able to share details or opinions that staff writers would forego.  So let's all be very quiet and listen in to close friends exchanging their impressions of MinnCon!
