In honor of Jared Padalecki's 30th Birthday (Happy Birthday Tall Moose Guy!) and after spending my entire evening moderating comments in the new Comic-Con interview threads, wanting to graphically end it all after all the very negative comments (especially when the press room was so positive), I decided we're due for a happiness thread. The "Supernatural" Season 8 Happiness Thread! No negative vibes here. We're on our meds and experiencing pure bliss and joy!

Why am I happy about season 8? I have a few reasons....
Jeremy Carver is back!
Ben Edlund didn't give up and quit!

Jared's hair is looking fluffier than ever, and the sideburns are gone! (I wish I looked that good at 30)

Jensen is still freaking beautiful.

And "Supernatural" actually made it to season 8! Remember the days when that was inconceivable? Remember how shows like "Fringe" were supposed to go longer? That calls for a happy dance.

Nah, need more happy
Still need more happy...

Good, now let's have a good laugh....

I'll throw in some puppies and kitties while I'm at it!

Gotta have babies and their proud birthday papa!

And you must finish with a unicorn farting rainbows. That's just canon!

So, what makes you happy about "Supernatural" and the upcoming season 8?
All negative posts will be removed immediately. We are not only drinking the kool-aid on this happy day, we're chugging it by the gallon.

Comments
1. IT'S SEASON 8!!!
2. Jared and Jensen, even after 7 seasons, are still completely dedicated to the show
3. The excitement I saw from Jensen in the interview room !!!! Infectious!
4. All the possibilities!
5. Purgatory and flashbacks! I love the prospect of some non-linear storytelling!!!
6. JEREMY CARVER!!!!
7. JENSEN AND JARED. AGAIN.
8. A new mytharc with possibilities to go for a few years??? Yes, please!
9. Did I mention JEREMY CARVER?
10. WEDNESDAY'S!
And last but certainly not least...
11. IMPALA! Give me some Dean driving the car p0rn, please. ;)
I'm so excited about everything I've heard so far, and while it's making hellatus harder to handle, it's also so very exciting to imagine all the awesome we'll be getting!
I'm sure there are more specifics I'm missing, but gah! Season 8! It's just so magnificent. :)
Alice...thanks for making me smile and laugh! I loved the kitten and puppy pic!
And last but I hope not least...Happy Birthday, Jared!!!
The absolute commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of all the cast, crew and staff.
Jared and Jensen. Both could have moved on to more high profile projects by now, I 'm sure, but they haven't. And they still give everything in their performances.
Jeremy Carver. Not that I had any issues with Sera Gamble, but it's good to see him back.
While I was looking forward to Sam rescuing Dean from purgatory, I'm now desperate to know exactly how he does get out. The Supernatural writers always surprise me, even after 7 seasons. I love that!
Crowley! 'Nuff said!
We are all so passionate and opinionated about our show, and that's great, but sometimes I think we forget how damn lucky we are to still have it. It makes me sad when I see so much negativity. I still want to do a happy dance every time I think of season 8, and all the twists and turns we have to look forward to. Can't friggin' wait!
I think that both the guys looking so gorgeous is a great plus point! I mean, how many shows have such lookers as leads? None! And SPN has two! I wonder how little Jensen eats, he is so fit! Not an ounce of fat. And Jared is also thinner, thank god.
I am also happy to know that they are getting more supporting characters, and Bobby might be back and Cas is certainly back! The latest news is that Ty Olsson is playing that guy Benny who gets Dean out of Purgatory. Another hunk!
Another thing that makes me very very happy is that the story they have thought up can be taken right up to season 10! Yay!
Can't wait to sink my teeth into season 8!
I still remember wondering before they got picked up for season 6, "what the hell am I going to do now?" and now again I don't have to...YAY!
And yeah, Jeremy Carver's back. He's written some of my favourite episodes of all time.
And while I'm at it, I'm happy that this managed to cheer me up during a less than, er, inspiring day at work.
I am downright EUPHORIC about S8.
I started watching SPN at the beginning of S7 - in fact the S7 premiere might have been the first episode I saw. I had NO idea what was going on (as you can imagine), but I pulled in by the compelling characters and storyline. Over the course of 2-3 weeks, I went back and watched SPN from the beginning, every episode. And as S7 progressed and I better understood the journey the show had been on, I was SO worried that I was getting hooked on a show during it's last season! S8 will be the first season I get to experience from start to finish with a full understanding of the characters and the their journeys. I'm excited. :)
More than that, it seems like Carver is set on invigorating the show after a season of hard losses. I feel I can trust him with this because of how he's described the emotional journeys he plans for Sam and Dean. It sounds refreshing.
I'm excited about this "Raiders of the Lost Arc" theme and the idea that Sam and Dean will be going on the offensive this season, chasing after something "personal" to them. And I've always been less interested in the mythology, I was particularly heartened to hear that not only does he actually have a mythological story idea that is big and interesting enough to span multiple seasons, but also said they'd be backing off the "heavy, heavy mythology." I like that. I further appreciate how much attention he's paying to the structure of the season - that's huge. And he reminds me of Kripke, even though I was "born" during the Sera Gamble days and never "knew" Kripke.
But most of all, I'm excited about how Carver and Edlund described the plan to have the brothers "open up" emotionally to each other and to others this season. Because though I have no illusions about these battle-hardened heroes, I wish good things for them. Even if they only last a while. :)
The kitten and puppy are so cute...and Alice Jester you are very talented.Supernatural is definitely the best TV show ever
Jensen ,Jared, Bobby, Castiel , Crowley & Baby
I love the fans of the show with all their opinions, discussions and the the things we are willing to do, the lengths that we will go to to show just how much we love our boys and those who make Supernatural a very real place we want to be a part of every week for the last 7 years and ...
I love that the writers & crew are crazy & amazing and that this show loves its fans as much as we love them
I love that Supernatural can make you laugh, cry sit on the edge of your seat and scream at the t.v. but that it also teaches important lessons about courage, never giving up and that we make our own destiny and most important that family is everything.
I love that when times are hard in my life I think W.W.D.D. or W.W.S.D. and it they some times give me the strength to get back in fight & kick a little ass and to have hope even when everything feels hopeless and I am not sure I am going to make it. So here is to Supernatural for all they have given us and I hope this ride continues a lot longer than 8 seasons.
This. So much this! Just reading this post made me mist up a bit. I love that when I start feeling odd about just how much I love this show, I read posts like this and realize it's not me, it's everyone that watches because this is truly the most amazing show on TV.
First things first….
Happy 30th Birthday Jared!
Awww Kelvin and Hobbes….I loved that comic strip.
From what I have seen from these Comic Con interviews…I’d have to say I’m very excited for this season.
Now what makes we happy for Season 8?
1) There is a Season 8.
2) How upbeat and enthusiastic all the actors and writers were in these interviews.
3) I really like the Flashback concept and leaning about both brothers experiences while apart.
4) I can’t wait to see Deans ‘Great Escape’ along with this mystery partner of his.
5) I can’t wait to see how Sam deals with Dean’s disappearance, his love interest and how he comes to his decision to move on.
6) I’m intrigue by what Crowley is up to and Kevin’s fate.
7) I’m very curious as to what becomes of Castiel.
On a final note I just love this show, I’m so invested in these Characters. Jensen and Jared have done a fantastic job of bringing both these characters to life. To me they have given them more than just a face (as beautiful as they both are), but a real human element that I can’t help but care, love and want to continue to see and experience more of their story and be apart of their lives.
Thank you for this uplifting article and all the work you did on your interviews.
Cheers!
About season 8, I'm happy for Dean because seems like his storyline will be real good, and I'm happy because he's found his fighting spirit again!
Thank you so much for that!
Did you have a chance to ask Jared and Jenson for how many more seasons they signed their contracts? Did they sign beyond season 8?
Thanks again! Cheers!
There is a Season 8. It's on Wednesdays. It will be the second season that I will watch live, and not as a re-telecast by Indian channels after pathetically cutting off the more violent bits, or skipping entire episodes altogether (Yes, they skipped Fallen Idols and Hammer of The Gods, and most people who watched SPN in India for the first time last year don't yet know that the Trickster is dead. Atrocious). The boys will be back. The Impala will be back. There will be new good guys and bad guys. There will be at least one episode that'll make us laugh our asses off. There will be music (I sincerely hope) and reviews, and speculations, and more speculations...
There will be Supernatural, and that's enough for me :)
I am freaking pumped for season 8. I love angel an demon plots, Cas will be like season 4/5, Jared is minus sideburns , Dean is gonna be bothered by his Purgatory friend, n Crowley is there to screw everyone over! How could it get better? Oh, and the cast wants Gabriel back = epic.
Even just watching interviews- the whole cast is so freaking excited about this season too, how could fans not be anything but the same?? I KNOW I AM.
Here's what makes me happy: I remember holding my first baby at the same age.
I am now very proud to say that almost 20 years later, same baby, and her young sibling, introduced me to this show 'Supernatural', and I'm loving it.
Wonder what type of show young Thomas will introduce his Dad to one day?
1. A plan that gives shape and flexibility for the next three years
2. Jeremy Carver's coherence and collected mind and the new energy
3. Ben Edlund. The two of them together give such a vibrant dynamic with Carver's purposeful long view and Edlund's mad as a box of frogs excitement. Seriously, the long view lets spontaneity happen, and the lively moments keep the sustained journey fresh. It's going to be terrific. I read the tea leaves...
4. What mybelle calls 'non-linear story' telling (I love all your list!) -- can't wait for this. I couldn't be more pleased about this approach. It works too that we're getting a more grown up, edgy feel as the guys are getting older too
5. Something slow and real and felt for Sam. The one upsetting moment for me from the Comic Con panel (because it was so true) came when a fan asked what aspect of their character the actors felt had been unexplored, and Jared replied ’Sam has had too many aspects'. It's time to rediscover the centre and depth of his character and I've got real hopes that Carver will deliver
6. Dean, clear purpose, renewed energy, Purgatory story... Stuff like that! Can't wait
7. The Impala back with a real rumble and growl
8. Castiel to be rehabilitated in Purgatory
9. The Indy feel
10. And over everything, what Bamboo said above:
Quote:
11. Just thought of another one. If Carver's approach in time restores a balance between the brothers in terms of the closeness you can feel to them, their motivations and the share of the action given to each, and to other members of the cast, then maybe, possibly, perhaps, it could be... there will be a united fandom once more
And YES!!! Jared's hair is flufly!!! I touched it myself!!! =)))
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARED!!! All the best to you!!!!
And thanks, Alice and all WnFamBusiness for this great article!!! =))
So, that's it.
What makes this show so great is everyone that works in front of the camera and behind the camera. The art that it takes to pull this off week after week is amazing (a few of many examples... Props, make-up, hair, lighting, and so many more I can't name them all).
All of u guys have a great thing going. Don't stop! Just keep on keeping on.
Now on a more personal not to Jared...
As I said earlier me and my husband love the show (we own each season and 7 is on my Christmas wish list ????). He is blind so I describe a lot to him. I'm no pro at describing shows to anyone so he misses a lot.
The UK are more respectful than American to the blind by describing TV shows for the blind. Then post them on a website so they can enjoy them with their families by the blind person putting on headphones and listening to the show described. While others can watch. That way nobody misses anything.
Will you please mention to the powers that be that they would have even more followers plus more respect if they would have the show described each week and posted on the SPN website.
I challenge you and everyone affiliated with the show to just once blindfold yourselves and put a SPN show on and just listen. I have to say I can't make it thru a whole rerun of anything I've seen over and over again.
I like to see the expression on the faces and what is going on. So please take this challenge and understand that when the show is described the blind will not miss anything ever again. Then broadcast it online so all blind people across the world can enjoy each episode.
We r huge fans of the show and we love EVERYTHING about the show. We just wish it was more blind friendly.
We love you all,
Sheila
And, not to be shallow, but Jensen gets more gorgeous as he ages. Jared is the same age as my son (who is also turing 30 in August), and looking very handsome and mature. Fatherhood agrees with him.
Supernatural is filming, so all is right with the world.
Aaaw our boys are growing up so fast. Happy Birthday Jared. They will always be boys to me.
I love all the people who are involved in this show especially the actors who continue to pour their heart into their performances year after year. They make us laugh , cry, shake our fists with anger, and feel so protective.
I think everyone on the cast and crew tries to make the best show they can and I appreciate that.
Looking forward to the new season with great expectations.
Love this site and it's loyal and diverse fans!!
I'm beyond ecstatic that we are getting another season! Who would have thought that 4 or 5 years ago.
I'm thankful for the wonderful crew, writers, directors, producers, composers, actors, hair dresser (Hi Jeannie!), stunt guy etc. This is the only show of which I actually know the names of all these folks. Because this is just the best television show ever. (Boo to the Emmys, what a crock they are!). So thank you Eric Kripke for creating it all in the beginning.
I'm still loving my beloved boys who have turned into men before my eyes. And what beautiful men they are! Dean and Sam are dear to my heart and always will be, and the two J's are so talented to have made them both so very endearing and lovable that I can't bear to think some day they will be gone from my TV.
I'm happy that the cast really want Gabriel back, as he is my favourite angel, even though I love Cas also. Misha is such an amazing character and truly brings the enigmatic angel to life.
I'm happy that Jim Beaver was at the Comicon as it makes me hope he will be brought back in the flesh somehow. Just lovin' Bobby, and the boys need him. Give them a break for a change?
I'm grateful for all the wonderful characters I have grown to love over the years. Wonderful Ellen and Jo (you should never have turned Dean down, girl), sweet Andy, Ash, Viktor, Frank (are you really dead?), young John & Mary, Trickster/Gabe, Missouri, Bobby and of course Mom and Dad Winchester. And for awesome villains, Ruby, Bela, Gordon, Fred Lehne's Azazel, Alpha Vamp, Lenore, Crowley, Alistair (shiver), Lucifer, Meg, etc.
And I'm grateful to you Alice, for this wonderful site, and for making this thread a positive one that I'm not afraid to read.
The reviews and interviews have made me very happy and looking forward to the next season and for Jeremy Carver to lead us into the next five year plan. Jeremy has written some of the very best episodes and the one dearest to my heart "Supernatural Christmas". The ending of that one grips my heart and brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it again! May he bring the boys together again with that same feeling.
Thanks for this and for the convention reports (though HOW you could sit at a table with J & J and remain coherent in the face of so much prettiness is beyond me! I'd be stammering something intelligent along the lines of "humina humina humina").
I too am excited for the new season, especially the new showrunner. The Mayan Gods sound promising too - I looked it up and there are so many! Some scary and some actually pretty comical. [ACAN, god of wine. His name means belch. Hee]. I like the non-linear storytelling approach. And the chance for some bare-chested Sammy action? Count me in.
I will say, I'm going to miss watching on Friday night. That was sort of my husband and my TV date night show. Thank goodness for DVRs! Gonna be tough not to check in here Thursday morning, but they say discipline is good for the soul. And I understand it's more prestige for our show, so it's all good. Bring on Season 8!
I am so excited about season 8.
I love Dean and Sam as characters and I think Jensen and Jared do a wonderful job of acting in each and every episode.
I am sure they will continue in season 8.
The crew, writers , producers, and stars commitment to the show makes a very strong force for good episodes and seasons.
Jensen and Jared are so handsome and cute. Smiley face ;)
Great writing, with Carver to help-good writing staff this year. Did like Sera Gambles writing, and will miss it, but Ben Edlund, Jeremy Carver and the rest of the writing staff have proven to be very good.
The music, the car, the fun stuff, the serious stuff.
All of it-just looking forward to seeing the series again.
Also - Happy, happy 30th to Jared. Our babies are growing up. *sniffle* My two kids are their age and I always harken back to that when I see how much has changed over these past 7 years. And Supernatural is still here!!!
Just a thought- the 'flashback' parts of the show will give our two (amazing) leads more time to divy up their schedule and not be tied to the, more often than not, grueling hours they've had to endure in the past seasons.
On a related note, the previous posts got me to thinkin' that Jim's (Bobby) presence at ComicCon could mean that he will be in season 8 through flashbacks (maybe) along with some of our other beloved characters from seasons past - it would be wonderful to see Gabriel again.
So... yeah. I am very much looking forward to however many more seasons TPTB deem fit to throw our way. I'm in it for the long haul.
I am an excited fan
I am SO frickin excited about S8 I could just explode (kinda like Raphael did). Best show on TV, best actors on TV, best supporting cast on TV, best production team on TV...... yep..... this show wins all my awards!
This show and these characters have become a part of my daily life. I quote from the show at least once a day in my normal conversation with friends or co-workers even though no one knows what I am talking about, it makes me smile.
I am also SUPER excited the show not only got picked up for an eighth season (and there is talk of more to come) but that it got moved to Wednesday night. For me, I don't care what night it is on or what time it is on.... it is my priority. But, what an amazing thing to be an actor or a crew member on this show and see it get moved from the "death slot" to a better night. What a complement to everyone who works on the show and they really seem to be thankful for us, their fandom so..... way to go fandom!!
Also, I would be remiss if I didn't throw some mad love to the writers on this site. I enjoy reading all the articles and updates so, thanks for all the work you do to keep this site up-to-date and worth visiting daily.
Happy 30th b-day to Jared. I hope you enjoy your 30s as much as I did!
I'm so pleased to have another season of Supernatural to watch, and to have a high-quality site where I can discuss the show with fellow fans.
Thanks Alice, for the Comic-Con interviews, and for the WFB!
thank you soooo much for this refreshing post. I stopped reading all the negative comments on this and other sites since a while, it's too depressing for me. So this and all the following comments were very awsome to read. I love the show and I love the boys and I'm completely bowled over, that we get another season, maybe more. The producers and writers can't carry out al the different wishes and demands of the fans (and honestly thank got it is so!). I will take what they bring us and I will enjoy it like I always did.
i am happy about everything on season 8!
about seeing these brothers again!
about watching every episode and watch it and watch it again!!!
about that i have no idea what carver and edlund have in the bag and i'm totally looking forward to it!!
about that , supernatural is one of the shows , that can make you cry , laugh , scare and love at the same time!!!
i wanna cry and laugh and scream again this fall!!
so bring it on already!!
and happy birthday Jared!!
Happy Birthday to Jared!
The arc in the story-lines is fascinating, and the acting from both of the leads and all the supporting cast has been an inspiring thing to watch.
I am so excited to have Carver back, as he was instrumental in the creation of some of my favorite episodes.
I can't wait to see if there will be differences in the lighting and filmography (like with "It's a Terrible Life" and "Changing Channels") that will reflect the somewhat lighter mood that seems to be coming for season 8.
What ever happens I am waiting (somewhat impatiently) for the new season. I can only hope that the storyline will take the series to at least a season 10, and that Jensen and Jared will want to stay on that long.
Great show!!!
Thank you so much for this happiness thread ;beginning- to- end smiley faces.
It is so wonderful to read all the positive comments; I am really looking forward to Season 8. Amen to all the previous comments and I am also looking forward to a season where Dean has "clarity" according to Jensen. I will be happy to see he has found his purpose again.
People can say what they want about Season 6&7 but it was still some of the best television around if you don't compare it to the first 5, which I know is hard to do. Compare it instead to all the rest of the crap on TV and it comes out far ahead still. Sure the first 5 were better but that's just because they had that 5 year arc they built up so well.
Watching the Comic-Con videos have me so excited for Season 8. I can't stop watching them and looking for new ones. Even though they all pretty much say the same, I feel the need to watch every single one.
Happiness threads rock!
1. Jermery Carver. You cannot deny that we have a better showrunner.
2. Jared and Jensen are still 100% behind the show.
3. Misha Collins appears to be back, hopefully more often.
4. The Impala is back.
5. The new structure of this season, Flashbacks to see what Sam, Dean, and Cas were up to, as well as how it relates to the current time, AWESOME!
6. Ben Edlund is still with the show. I think Jeremy will charge Ben's energy for the show too.
7. Move to Wednesday. Shows the CW is committed to the show.
8. 150th episode, here we come! WOW SPN!!
I am a 450 big block kinda girl.
Oh, and the Dean striding out of the forest in the S8 pilot. Yum. (Don't tell my husband about that one. He understands about the car
