Hidden gems, unsung heroes, underrated favorites. We all have them. Personal favorite Supernatural episodes that never make the best or buzzworthy lists, but in their obscurity mean something to you. I have more of these episodes on my list than can be reasonably shared, so I wondered – if I could pick just one from each season, what would they be?
The results just make me smile. These episodes are constantly selected by me when it comes time to re-watch episodes for a season, yet I rarely see them brought up in discussions on this site or earn a mention when it comes time to recall quote worthy, shocking, brotherly, or funny moments. Time many have forgotten them, but I haven't!
So without further delay, here are my hidden gems by season.
Why: This episode is the fourth one of the series, but it’s the first one ever to use demon possession. It’s also the first time the boys put on their suits and pretend to be government agents. But that’s not what grabbed me about it. Aside from the clever lines (“Poltergeist, I love that movie!”) and a great story embracing the legend about demons crashing planes, this is actually a very emotional episode. I like how it exposed a deeper layer in the brothers (the following "Bloody Mary" does a good job of this too). The ending gets me every time. It’s one of the best episodes in the series for score (the best going to “Home.”) Plus, it’s nice to see macho Dean Winchester have a fear of something. Vulnerability in a bad ass can be fun!
